Ours did a similar thing last week, except it said to service everything. Wouldn't worry about it too much. Its just the electricals having a melt down. They fix themselves after a few hours.

Fitted a set of side steps last night - aids for thos vertically challenged to get in an out, and very sturdy to use as an access to the roof.....

That looks great Domo. How do you guys keep the thing so shiney and schmick. My Jeep is a sad and sorry sight because even after a clean (and I really do do it well) within one drive cycle it is covered in crap, dirt and dust.

In fact a friend arrived here this afternoon in his new Subaru and looked forlornly at the clumps of dirt attached and said 'do you mind if I borrow your hose before I come in for a drink'

It's so depressing seeing the schmicky pics that you guys post.

Hi SJandL, admittedly I only picked it up on Tuesday, and we've had fine whether since, but it is dusty, although the shine seems to come through. Sometimes no matter how clean a car is, it is only when you shine the tyres, does it stand out.

Oh good - now you sound like my husband. 'Don't forget the tyres' as he strolls past me cleaning it.

Bugs are heinous. Need special attention. Have a lambs wool mitt with bug removal cloth on the flip side. Husband said Auto parts man saw me coming - I think he was right (but it gave him a good laugh - the husband that is - actually probably the auto-parts man as well.) Oh well.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

I just a bunch of Insurance quotes, all the same extras, hire car, windscreen etc..:
A big point for all, is make sure you do your quotes on line, not over the phone, it i always far cheaper.
I had to call Allianz, as it would not process a quote for my post code due to the fires. This stoppage got lifted just before I called them so I did it online as well as on phone, and it was $328 more over the phone.

Woolworths (replace car for 12 months) $881, excess $600
GIO Platinum (replace car for lifetime) $967, excess $650
AAMI (replace car for 24 months) $1,119, excess $625
Allianz (replace car for 24 months) $1,151, excess $850
Coles, don't know about car replacement $1287, excess $850

Youi (AKA- you have got to be fkn kidding me) $2500, excess - who cares, I'm not 23 years old in a VL Turbo Maaaaaate.

Woolworths gives an extra 4c per litre off at Woolys fuel. Based on loose numbers, 18,000km per year, 10Lt per 100km = 1,800lt of fuel. So that equals $72 saved in fuel, so basically makes the insurance $809.

I think I will pay the extra $158 per year for GIO Platinum. The Life Time new for old car replacement is great, and I think they are more likely to be on top of it in a situation.

I am curios, is anyone aware of their insurance policy that has a hire car provision covering them if the car brakes down instead of being in an accident?

Have you tried the "Jeep" insurance for that?

I haven't actually tested this. The bottom edge of the strips seem to stick out enough to be able to stop damage from other car doors. I will test them with my missus' old 80 series cruiser and my daughter's Subie Liberty later today and let you know. This should cover the spectrum of big and medium car doors.
Cheers
Colin

You'll find Youi are really good if you don't drive your car, and leave it parked in a Level 2 or above secure facility.
