Noons and I have done skid plates on both our cars now. It took about an hour and a half per vehicle, excluding the head scratching about the orientation of the fuel tank plates. Either the diagram is wrong, the LH vs. RH labelling is wrong.... or we smoked crack before doing his car, which was the first.

Otherwise it's straightforward, but start from the rear and work forward. Having done both directions this is definitely a better sequence.

Oh, I should mention that I have a pit in my old 50's garage. I wouldn't really want to do it without that or a hoist. A cheap trolley jack was invaluable for the fuel tank plates, and less fuel on board would be advantageous.

The rock rails sound like an epic to install...

Cheers,
Steve

Too slack to go back over old posts but pretty sure when I mentioned something about mine being stuck at Port Kembla for a while getting coal dust, someone piped up and said the vehicles are moved from the dock within 24 hours, 8 days on and the dust continues to build. If Prix Cars don't have the infrastructure or resources to move them faster why the hell don't they use someone else ???????

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

I’m not going to cry over a bit of dirt and rain etc, it will get plenty of that once we actually have it. I am not even too concerned over the time it takes.
I just want my bloody dealer to respond to my emails or phone call so I can feel more confident about selling my Pajero.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Hi all

I just added windscreen replacement to my insurance policy. It only cost an extra $24 for a year ($12 pro-rata for the time I have left on the current policy). That is bargain considering the cost of windscreens for these things.

On another matter, the rear reversing cameras have finally arrived. The dealer called me to ask which I prefer, the one fitted to the 2013 series or the one designed for the 2014. They said the 2013 fits neater but there is no difference in resolution. Have any of you know anything about this? Which way would you go?

Cheers

Sorry to hear that your dealer is not very responsive. Instead of ringing Prix Cars, I rang my dealer they knew exactly where the car was and what status it is, has left Port Kembla and has been moved to the Prix yard for compliance sign off then shipped to them.

Every time I have rung the dealer they have always been helpful and informative, thanks Dave at Mosman Jeep !

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

The PRIX CARS Facility at Port Kembla is now designated as a processing site. Therefore, perhaps the cars are no longer being shipped to Minto, but instead are being fully proceessed, then moved to either the dealers, or to the Arundel Park distribution centre. They certainly will not be on the dock.

I've been waiting over 2 months for Alex to respond to emails, once the contracts signed it seems he just ignores you.

You should call him using a different name. Only once he takes the call do you reveal who you are. He will take the call if he thinks it is a new sale.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Odd, trying to get info out of Dave at Mosman when looking to buy was near impossible.

Alan, Prix Cars told me it would move to Minto to “build it” he just wasn’t sure when as it had not been allocated.

Max, he has been quick to reply post contract signing except for two occasions, this one is really starting to piss me off as it is actually critical.
I will always give a few days for email response in case someone is away, then follow up with a call. In this case neither have been responded to.

No reason for me to lie Snuke, my car is a fleet purchase which was assigned to Mossman Jeep, Dave has always been very helpful. No reason for me to provide false praise that I know some do in return for a good deal. When Dave has not been available others have always provided me with info I needed so I can only provide positive feedback for Mossman Jeep.

You will be happy with the Bridgestone D697s. We took these out on the Stezlecki and Innamincka in June and they were great. These will be my goto tyres when the Khumo's are up for replacement. BTW, I did a beach run last weekend and the Khumo's were great. I was a little surprised.
