Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Interesting reading re the recall. From an up to date looks like I should be OK as mine was built on 16 September, likewise Salmo and I think Snuke plus some others on the forum. Given what has been described and the communication issues with JA if mine was effected I would be on the front foot direct with the dealer's service dept.

For the owners who have QL you can check this easily. The air tank is behind the rear seat. Fold flat the rear seat and lift the hinged cover that normally covers the child seat anchorage point, look under it between the rear seat and spare tire and you will see the shiny air tank. Stick your hand in, grab the air tank and see if you can move it easily. I was very surprised when i found both my brackets holding the air tank were not tightened at all.
(uploaded 4 pics to the GC photobucket site but can't see them, so can't attach them here).

I fixed it myself at the same time when i installed my Mopar towbar.

Here are the 4 pictures.

1st pic, left side bracket not done up tight.

2nd pic, right side bracket not done up tight.

3rd pic, left side bracket tight.

4th pic, right side bracket tight.

Just to remind all of you with QL air suspension to check this and either fix yourself or go to the dealer for them to do it.

Mopar Rear Slush mat. Who the hell designed this?? Perhaps an engineering student???

You can see the original carpet one underneath.

Mine was the same actually, plus the metal leg which supports the litigiously weak tie down loops was also only half screwed down. I wonder who's going to be the first to wear a fridge full of booze because it was "secured" to these flimsy imposters

Ciao,
Steve

Oh dear... that's not why you pay extra for OEM!

Does anybody if the boats use the same dock when they arrive in Melbourne.
If so, which one, I might try to watch the unloading using one of the cams.

Do you really want your first sight of your pride and joy to be immediately followed by some fat, sweaty dock worker hauling his butt out of the driver's seat?

Nothing against dock workers...well the ones who look after themselves anyway

Cheers,
Steve

Salmo, Heres the Port of Melbourne webcam site;
Use the Swanson Dock cam when docked.
You can watch the ship come into view on the Westgate Bridge cam and also the Webb Dock West cam.

Hours of good fun. Depends what part of the dock it berths, cant see much. I went down to Lorimer Street Port melbourne and accessed an office and watched it from there.

Live Webcams | Port of Melbourne Corporation
You can also track the ship up the Port Phillip Bay.
Do you know the ship and the date of arrival at all?
This site will track it for you,

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Salmo,
I see you know the ship and when its here.

PS; it took nearly 5 weeks from the time it was unloaded there until Pricks Cars got it to Frankston dealer.

I went to the top of Jeep OZ who passed it down to the Southern general Manager as top priority.

Didnt make a diddly squat bit of difference.
