It is a pity I am not buying any Jeep goodies, as the wife has packed a 2nd suite case for all the kids pressies.
Buy another suitcase over there. We dropped into Bob Baker Jeep in Carlsbad (San Deigo) and picked up some front and rear brake pads/discs for '07 JGC which was a whole lot cheaper than getting them here (even with the $50 excess luggage weight charge because they aren't light).

Have a great trip.

Does anyone have a GC with pimples??
Are they paint runs?

Yeah, just read the TSB and exactly what I experienced. Well at least it's a known problem and they have a fix.

Yeah I think so. Not sure what to do about it. If I get the dealer to fix, they might do more harm then good.

As long as they don't bother you, best left as is, otherwise, they can be easily removed by a good body shop. Alternatively, if the dealer is to fix it, they will only pass onto a body shop anyway.

+1 the above... unless they are so big that they might break off when handled.

Cheers,

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

G'day all,

I picked up my JGC Limited last month. So far i am happy with it but a few niggly things that i pointed to the dealer which hopefully will be sorted out on the 1000k service.
These are the things i am not so happy about, the glove box does not latch properly, the little media compartment door front of the shift lever is out of alignment, the wheel balance is out, steering shakes above 90kph and the vehicle pulls to the left. The gap between the rear tail lights does not match. That is the alignment gap is wider on the left compared to the right.

After paying 72grand for the vehicle i m not happy with the quality and i will be telling the dealer again of my disappointment.

Have anyone of you had a closer look at these things?

Apart from these, the vehicle drives well, and compared to my MY13 Laredo it has heaps more power and fuel economy is great. I am doing between 5to 6L/100km on the highway.
and about between 6to7L on urban.

cheers,
Ameet.

Picked up my Limited in July, no problems with fit and finish, everything checks out ok. The vehicle tracks true on the road and no sign of wheels out of balance, so far 5500km's. Seems like it is the luck of the draw when it comes to quality control at Chrysler USA. It is such a shame as they can do better, you would think that the employees at the factory would appreciate that they have a great vehicle on their hands and they would take more care when it comes to quality control, if the Jap's can do it , so can they.
Hope your problems are rectified quickly and this will all pass into distant memory.

Is your laredo diesel or petrol? So far that is what i am getting in terms of fuel economy. I do not know if it matters on what diesel you use. I fill up with bp ultimate diesel.

when i first picked it up, the average consumption was around 11.8, now it is sitting at average of 8.1, the actual consumption when driving around on highway is between5-6 and urban is 6-7. So maybe my style of driving has got something to do with it.
considering there is only missus and i in the car with no carry on.

I had the same issue with the tail light gaps. I noticed that, along with the tail gate handle not fitting correctly, before that did the dealer delivery and they did a fair job of correcting it. Unfortunately, when they fitted the towbar later, they did a bad job of replacing the rear panels, and now they don't align. Next visit I guess. I haven't had any of the other issues you mention.
