I believe that the camera on the Limited and Overland models may operate over the canbus system whereas the Laredo potentially has a video signal directly connected to the uconnect system (Laredo uconnect may not work with canbus cameras) which is why there may be some differences in the camera and guide lines.

The reason I am assuming this is that at times when our camera (Overland) first comes on it appears to stutter every now and then and the quality is low as though it's buffering then comes good after a second or two.

If it's a simple as connecting the camera to the canbus system in the Laredo, I wouldn't imagine the dealers would not need to pull the car apart as some people have mentioned to get it connected unless they had to run a video feed back to the head unit.

This is by no means factual, just my observations.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

This is the part number for the 2011-2013 82212110

Jeep Grand Cherokee WK2 - Rear back-up camera

This has an installation manual link. If dealers in Aus have to do similar to install on a Laredo, and they are not wired already from factory, then Jeep Aus are BIGGER $%^& than I thought.

That is what the installer though would have been delivered for my car, but they are for the MY13, the panel on which the MY14 camera is mounted is full width of the tailgate. The camera I received has been cut into the tailgate to be mounted. There is no adjustment for it so I may as well buy my own and fit it and have something that works reasonable well compared to the cheap crap they are using. Something like this would probably work better!!!

Peanut, stole your thunder m8.

Couldnt help myself. These so-called motoring writers are juvenile journalists trying to learn the ropes.

Well said,
I was about to say the same thing how do you get a V6 out of a 4 cylinder Must be a toyota thing

All you have to do is spend plenty on advertising and you will always get great write ups
In aust the only reason they are the top seller is because of all the leasing via the mining industry.
I don't see how people buy these for towing when they limited to 2.5 ton tow what a joke and dearer then the jeep.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Well I finally managed to get a CRD for a test drive, and whoa!!! It's like a sports car after driving the cruiser. A fair bit of turbo lag, but when the revs get up that digital speedo just flicks through the numbers. Also noticed a fair bit of understeer in sharp turns at low speed, but other than that it's a winner. Just have to sell it to the missus and the order will be in.

When you read the model highlights, under Laredo - Safety and Security Features : it shows listed as Parkveiw Reversing Camera with Dynamic grid lines as one of the features in the vehicle. I will show dealer when I go for my 10000kms service, see what they say. Im one of the lucky(or not so lucky ones) that have had the crappy cameras fitted. If you havent got one fitted , it might be better too see what they do later down the track, and wait a bit longer. They might fit Limited ones, you can only hope.
