Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Fingers crossed. Have just dropped the MY14 in to dealer for 1st service. (eyeballing over then)

Two updates being performed, one the recall update.

The big red fire truck has been purring along nicely with no instrument crashes at all.

One update takes 1.5 hours to do.

As well, he had a rear view park camera to install. I asked the details, no camera wiring plugin, has to be wired back to the Uconnect, headling out to run the cable etc. Based upon the bad reports and one of poor reinstatement of head lining I said "thanks but no thanks" will wait till next year and see if we can pressure the company to come up with a Chrysler product.

I asked the Service Manager if indeed it was a Chrysler product, he said it was a Chrysler supplied product but not a genuine Mopar bit. End of story. He also admitted that the quality of the supplied camera was not the best.

So if I start having any issues and instrument crashes after the "UPDATES" I shall be a little bit cross.

Whilst waiting for the Big red Truck to be ready I was sipping my Nespresso Cappuccino (Eat your heart out George Clooney) and reading todays Cars Guide (Melbourne).

Comparo between our very own JGC Overland crd and the Land Rover Disco TDV6.

Results were 20 points to us and 18.5 points to them..
Winner by knockout!!

We're on a WINNER!!

But then read the review of the Prado Kakudu and you ask yourself,, "Where are these motoring writers heads screwed on??"

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Hi Everyone,

I have been working my way through all the pages of information on the MY14 GC and just as it was when I purchased my MY11 the amount of information on here is overwhelming.

I have had my MY11 GC Laredo now for almost 2.5 years and apart from a couple of early issues with the air suspension and getting stuck on a beach in Bundaberg overnight with a SERV 4WD fault I am now up to 56,000Km and this is by far the best vehicle I have ever owned.

Now I am deciding if I should stick with the MY11 for another year or 2 or if its time to upgrade. At this stage I am just about ready to pull the trigger on a MY14 GC Overland 3.6 Petrol. I know most people will think I am crazy for going the 3.6 but after owning the 3.6 in the MY11 now for a couple of years I never found it underpowered and it always had what I needed whether it was overtaking or out on the beach. I don't do any towing and I am lucky enough I don't pay for fuel so fuel economy is not an issue for me. Of course I would love the extra power and maybe with resale the 3.6 could be an issue, although looking through here and what I see on the road maybe when it comes time to sell I might have the only 3.6 petrol overland around and someone will be happy to save 5K and get themselves into an overland.

I have looked around at all the GC competitors and still there is nothing that is even close to comparing for the price and as the missus says she thinks we are now just totally converted to the jeep brand. Not to mention the bonus of getting another GC is that my accessories such as roof racks, after market wheels (with Bridgestone D697 Tyres) and side steps will go straight onto the new one.

Most Questions I have been answered by working my way through hundreds and hundreds of pages but I was hoping someone could tell me does the MY14 come with the cargo cover in the back like the earlier models did or an extra?

Thanks to everyone that contributes information on here it really is an amazing forum.

At this stage of the game, I would not recommend anyone to order a MY14. Reason being that by the time it was built and delivered, you will be approaching the MY15 release. If you are not in a hurry to update, I would wait the 7 months, then look at the new model.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

I'm probably going to order a MY14, to wait for the MY15 would be a fair bit more than 7 months I would think. Production might start in 7 months, maybe, then another 4 months for delivery(?), and I'm not convinced there will be that much of a difference.

If he buys petrol, he can get one tomorrow.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Thanks for the Input, I did read on a post from Milous a hundred or so pages ago that production on the MY15 was to begin in about June or July and by the time they arrived into OZ it would be late next year.

It is true the exact model with colour and interior that I want is currently in stock.

I am hoping my company's finance department can get things sorted so I can place the order. It seems the luxury car tax is giving the accountants headaches.
