Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

I'd like to know more about the MY15 ahead of ordering the MY14, but as far as I can see it just has some parking aids, more cameras, and a new park brake..... maybe a new headlight and grill?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

I've been busy trying to get Nav and fix my cruise control issue...just noticed talk about a recall....

Did someone say recall, ?

Is this just to fix the cluster?

Is the recall done under warranty ....outside of the service schedule?

My cruise control is still rubbish..keeps shutting down....usually when you are trying to increase the set speed+

Perhaps this recall fix might have a positive effect on the cruise issue!...here is hoping at least!

I think this whole Camera issue is a complete debacle...they are not even proper Mopar cameras that they are going to fit.

who is betting we will get them (cheap cameras) installed before xmas ?!

I've had my CG just under 2 weeks. It came with the reversing camera fitted. It works fine, but the lens is susceptible to dust and rain, so needs a wipe over on a regular basis.
could you post a picture of the rear camera display, my lared 4x4 came with "a reversing camera" but no navigating lines or anything, and directed over my plates.....

Parking brake we could all only hope.

9 speed, NO. You don't put a new transmission in to only replace it the following year, you build on the experience and fiddle with the programming.
Not to mention the 9 speed can't handle the torque of the CRD or V8.

The MY15 update will be relatively minor, as was the MY12 update. It fixes a few bugs but nothing major. And as has been posted we wont see it for a good 10 months.
I have waited a year from when I decided to replace the Pajero to get a MY14, and I consider it worth while for the difference in MY13 to MY14, but I sure wouldn't be waiting more than a couple of months for MY15

Talking about tinting, front windows only as back come with factory tinted? If u don't mind, what's the price paid?

Well, I picked up my Big Red Fire truck this afternoon. They had a rear park camera there for me to be fitted.

I said thanks but no thanks. I will wait until a good quality camera system is provided. I advised the service manager along those lines as well.

I also mentioned the large number of complaints re the poor quality as well as one post reported the headlining not being replaced properly when they had to fit the camera wiring.

He also admitted that the camera did not have a good resolution.

So wait we will and I'm going to bombard Chrsler Jeep Aust until we get a quality camera.

If you're thinking of only tinting the fronts, just be aware that although the rest of the car (minus windscreen) comes out with the 'deep tint sunscreen glass' from the factory (not applicable for Laredo) that the UV protection is only about 5% rejection. Best to tint the rest of the car in a clear or very light film to get the same 99% UV protection (or there abouts) as what you'll be getting for the fronts with the darkest legal tint, otherwise it will be like having the air con on with the windows down .
Also you'll be protecting the interior in case the glass is broken as the tint film will hold the glass in tact instead of shattering inside in a million pieces.

Is the 3M Formula1 stuff a metallic film? I think it is. Again be aware that having metal film can reduce RF signals inside your car...for your mobile phone for example.
