None at all, I don't believe it's a problem, I have never seen this issue raised in any of the technical journals.
Maybe we look for problems where none exist?

Factory tinted glass is done when the glass is produced. Unless it's specifically produced as a UV blocker, the tinted factory glass reduces little UV. I believe you can get a clear UV film for such applications.

The 3M Formula 1 film is a metallised film. I've experienced no noticeable difference with phone reception. As the Jeep has an external radio antenna the tint won't interfere with radio reception. However, if you have an antenna(e) printed on the glass, such as the Prado or Subaru, you WILL experience a loss of signal and interference.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

With regards to getting the windows tinted, our '07 JGC came with all windows tinted and it was a relief to find that only the rear passenger windows were tinted on MY14.

The reason being, that with '07 at night, we cannot see a thing when reversing down our driveway for example. I do it purely by feel and knowledge of the driveway. (no reverse camera on that baby either).

We have no external lighting on the property, nor do any of our neighbours properties and no street lights once we are on the road also.

It's a pain to have no external lighting at night but it is exacerbated further by all the windows being tinted on '07 Jeep.

That's just my opinion and experience though. I suppose that if you were always in an area that was well lit externally then it wouldn't make such of a difference but it is something to consider.

You can always open the window when reversing if they are tinted

Yes, depending on the glass used. Not sure in the case of the JGC. I don't know what glass they use for the pano roof. My mate owns a Tint a car franchise and im supposed to get it over to him so he can have a look at it, I just haven't had the time. I remember when I asked him the question he said something about heat being trapped between the film and glass and the glass shattering. Still looking for documentation on the sunscreen glass...

Cheeky thing you.

Yes, I know that.. that's what Sam (husband) does - actually he does that open door thing when backing down at night in '07, but who wants to do that in driving rain? Oh hang on... he does and probably you I suspect.

I just go blindly down... haven't hit anything yet.

Point is, you only have to do that when you have tinted front side windows. At times they reduce visibility to zero and that's not just reversing down your own driveway. That also includes side window visibility when you want to see what's coming before you pull out.

I do have to wind down my window at times (when driving '07) to see what is coming at me (on my right) before I pull out, purely because of the tint darkness of the window coupled of course with the fact that we have no street lights.

And I know what you're going say - don't you see the headlights coming? but there is a particular rise in the road about 20 metres prior that precludes this and on-coming traffic is on you before you realise.

Google on the subject, and the results are mixed but more suggest 'don't tint' as glass cracks due to heat retention. Below is an example:

Would like to hear ur friend's opinions when u have a chance.

To me, prime purpose of tinting is to block UV n heat but still let max. light through. DARK tint for front windows is NO NO.
