Possibly so you don't forget to put the cap on. Quite easy to do, especially when taking on the phone.
I would use a damp cloth to wipe around the filler area to keep clean.

OK...I get it....so once you've finished, you shake it until the dripping stops, then you wipe around for good measure??? Yes? We are talking about refueling...aren't we??

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Because of the annoyance of someone yapping on a phone right.

Never been one recorded incident of a mobile causing a problem at a petrol station.
Multiple scientific attempts and creating, all failed.
It all started from a hoax email.

Petrol stations fires from static electricity created by people with synthetic pants and dresses getting in and out of car while refilling is not uncommon in the US where they can lock off the pump handle while it filling and do other things. Or people filling jerry cans and not earthing them while doing it.

Yes, YouTube has older videos reloaded with new misleading titles.
Not sure if this is the original upload, but it is 2 years before that one you posted, there were several news articles about it too.
This was not the first time some genius used a lighter to check the level of a tanker.

Funny thing is, it is a Shell truck, that was where the original hoax email was sent and then stupidly sent on from that gave it some misguided legitimacy.

And this one is just awesome especially with the extinguisher at the end.

The best things about having a fuel cap is sticking it in the trigger to lock the gun on... Very very handy when you got to fill up a 250litre diesel transfer tank from a bowser that seems to only dribble!

Why do they have to take out the 'open-lock' pin design in Australia!?

And for those who are still having trouble dealing with jeep, make sure you're being a squeaky wheel. They will get peeved off with you ringing them three times a day asking for progress reports, and trust me it works!

Agree, that was my first thought when I went to fill up. And when your hand gets sore you have to juggle the phone when changing hands.

We use a diesel only truck stop, and all bar one pump have the pins. Sucks when you get there and theres a truck at each pump. Wait is a little longer than it normally is. That said, its usually deserted on weekends.

IBAJ,

How do you get on then with the Hi-Flow diesel pumps (for trucks). They have a larger diameter nozzle which cant fit in the capless filler.
(In Melbourne anyway)
