I am a bit late getting back to you so if no one has already answered:-
With motor turned off you can have ribbon DRL's and Tail lights illuminated.
With motor running you will not get illuminated Tail lights...only illuminated Ribbon DRL'S...at least that is the case with my car.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Am hoping these storms crossing Sydney this afternoon aren't delaying Snuke in taking delivery of his Jeep.

Yes, same here. Are park lights a roadworthy item?

Yes ALL lighting needs to be working, even non factory like spotlights and clearance lighting. You will find that the problem is ADR's not roadworthy. It might be considered distracting to have 4 DRL's on the SRT, so they disabled the headlight ribbon lights as DRLs.

OK, effectively the park lights (brake lights) only work when the engine is off. What about the MY12 - do the park lights (rear brake lights) work with engine off?

Regarding the SRT, that could have been a possibility regarding the distraction, but I think there are worse offenders on the road with the amount of aftermarket DRLs people are adding to their cars without any consideration?????

Went and had a look at my new ride today. Salesman was awesome, chatted to him for a while. It's not ready yet. Pick up next Wednesday :-) Happy as a pig in mud :-)

Looks better now.
Having messed with that I would just like to say I have had my Black Overland for 3 and a half weeks, have clocked up 3400 odd kays, and I love this truck.
Jeep convert.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Most of us are probably coming out of vehicles with temp gauges which stay still no matter what the real water temp is doing.

The Scangauge on my Pathfinder shows that the temp gauge doesn't move until the water temp is something like 108-110C. The gauge is still at temps between the 85 and 108 and in my view this is bad as you don't know to back off to stop temp increase when you are, for example, towing up long hills. Friends with Toyotas report the same thing.

Maybe the Jeep has a real, fully operating temp gauge? It may be the car isn't really getting hot but reporting sensibly across the standard range.

For comfort I'll be adding a Scangauge but I must admit I am heartened by reports of the Jeep gauge at least moving.

Cheers

Jim

Brake lights come on with the brake application and will work with the motor and ignition off. The parking lights will also work the same way. The difference between the tail and brake lights are, brake lights are 25w and tail lights are 5w. Usually on the same globe.

In regards tot he distraction of the SRT, I am fairly sure the ADR's only allow for a pair of DRLs, so the extra ones would break compliance.

While it would be possible to enable the ribbon lights to come on as DRLs, it may be more difficult due to CANBus and not just being able to jumper lights like the old days.
