Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Hey all, been watching this thread since I found it a couple of months ago. I ordered a 2013 overland crd on 1st of December, was told I'd have to wait for the 8 speed which turned out to be 2014 model which suited me fine. First told may, then July/August a couple of weeks ago so just keep waiting like everyone else. Looking forward to it arriving. Good info here, much better than dealers and cjd.

Hi Paige, good to see you are back, I thought it was you when I was on the lot a couple of weeks ago, but because of the failed email, I figured you had gone.

It looks like they are putting more focus on Jeep over there with the new show room, no longer the portable caravan look.

It would be nice to have a local dealer provide what official info Jeep Aus are actually providing.

Hi Patch

I did read the fine print and that is not the case. The PDS is easy to find online. Here is an example:- http://www.mbgbrothers.com.au/conten...nsurancev2.pdf

There are undoubtedly warranty extension/third party warranty products out there with major exclusions, hence my recommendation to review the PDS - as you would before buying any financial product.

My major concern with the Chrysler backed warranty was the inability to transfer it on to the next owner. Also, according to my dealer, it can only be purchased at the time of vehicle sale, whereas the Allianz policy above can be bought anytime before the factory warranty runs out.

Cheers

Paul

Dealers and Chrysler Jeep Australia.

The so called sales people at the majority of Jeep dealers that i have visited over the past 2 years i have found know NOTHING about the vehicle and quite frankly don't care either
They use the excuse that Jeep Aust have not told them anything
Which is true but also in reality the so called sales people just don't care - and why should they last year Jeep Grand Cherokee sold just over 400 a month this year same month over 900 units sold. Most are not sals people in reality they are just order takers. Many i found were selling holden's or Fords etc a few weeks before any way. The majority of sales men /women have no Brand loyalty what so ever and no interest in the vehicle what so ever.

Jeep Australia does not lead from the top thats the big issue here
They don't care
Even with this level of total disinterest in there own brand and actual vehicle the Jeep Grand Cherokee actually is the 2nd top selling 4x4 station wagon in Australia only to be out sold by a vehicle which is proped up by the mining leases not private sales like the Jeep So why should they care. In there eyes there current service and care level is delivering what they require.

Thank goodness there are a few, yes i admit it is only a very few dealers that do try. My owner dealer i would never buy a vehicle from ever again and i engage in a vigorous anti sale campaign when any one even mentions there name. I warn people not to deal with them. But the warnings fall on deaf ears, people just don't care

I have now found a new dealer and i hope they will live up to my customers expectations and if they do then i will sing there praises long and loud.

Long and short is that while Jeep Australia have the don't care aditude then nothing will change.

Do you think this has more to do with the dealership/ownership than Jeep? Jeep doesn't employe these people, the ownership does. Sales people want the most profit for the least amount of work, but don't we all? I say smear the name of the bad dealerships and sales people. But if you found a dealership that is doing everything you want them to do, do you then praise the dealership or Jeep for this wealth of knowledgable people?

I'm not saying that what they are doing is right. Just that everyone seems to always want to point the finger at the BIG GUY when it doesn't go right or what they think. Sometimes its the people in general that just don't care that should be slapped.

FWDJEEP:
You state "Jeep Grand Cherokee actually is the 2nd top selling 4x4 station wagon in Australia only to be out sold by a vehicle which is proped up by the mining leases not private sales"
I disagree. I think the reason Toyota get their sales to the mining companies is because they can deliver a vehicle relatively quickly, and readily supply parts at a more cost effective basis, and have a solid dealer servicing network.
At this point in time, CJD cannot do either of those.

Hi Gusrox,
What sort of discounts are they offering on new MY13 ? Still deciding between a Overland diesel or the SRT and at the moment there are a few good demo cars out there .
PM if you like.
Cheers Beggsy

We ordered a 14 Overland back in Jan. Called the dealer today for an update, and they are still saying late June, early July....
Not getting my hopes up though.

Hi All,

I've been following the thread closely as I would love to own a 2014 GC CJD Laredo with QL. My query/dilemma is this I'm a nurse and due to the cost of most automobiles vs my salary, I always opt for the extended warranty as its important to me to have that long term coverage as my wife will be the regular driver along with my 2 year old son plus, I simply can't afford to rollover a car every three years on my wage.

I absolutely hate having to go and speak with the finance people every time I would like specifics regarding purchasing an extended warranty.

Does anyone know exactly what the Jeep factory warranty costs(average/best price) and is that the only warranty that will allow me to be serviced by any jeep dealership when utilising the extended warranty?

I currently have a 2009 Volvo S40 T5 AWD, and love the fact that the Volvo extended warranty is exactly the same as the original new car warranty, but for just an additional 2 years with unlimited Kms and roadside assistance.

Does Jeep offer anything like this or will It vary from dealership to dealership with regards to the extended warranty products they have on offer? I live in Zetland and have found Suttons Roseberry extremely unhelpful when trying to get clarification of this issue. In addition to all of the production and other queries raised on this forum.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Cheers
