I can dim my screen with this button, it's just above the fuel button. I have to dim it as it's too bright at night. I have a Laredo though with no sat nav I don't know if it may not dim with nav on?

You can dim it SNUKE but I haven't done it since first picking up the car because I prefer driving around with my face lit up like Luna Park.
I know it was one of the dials just near the headlight switch. From memory I think only two settings...."bright" and "not so bright" I keep my Nav on bright mode along with my ambient lighting (currently running Red instead of my usual blue colour).

You must be hard man to please.

I tried the auto dim tonight as well. I thought it worked well, lights dip when a car approached and soon as it passed back to hi beam, approached a built up area(road lite by street lights) went to low beam. They would be set up to err on the side of safety. What more could you expect.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

There was one occasion with a car coming from a sweeping right hand corner and I would have turned them off, and I waited, and waited, then I turned them off.
The other 3 times it was spot on, including as I came around a bend and behind a car, it was off before I went to do it.
So not 100%, but very impressive.

Snuke, there is some great irony that the font of all knowledge here, can't turn down the sat nav screen

I can't remember whether it was in the menu or the little dial on the right - hell I might have even READ THE MANUAL! Lol

Are you jealous of the wife's car?

I tried mine last night, the roller switch does dim the sat nav but it also dims the instrument cluster.

You can dim the Nav screen Using the settings.

1.Select settings
2.Select display
3. Display mode
4. check night box (might have to turn lights on)
5. Adjust night brightness.

Cheers Brad.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Great to see another win for the JGC in the Drive COTY.
I am sure there will be a few Prado drivers that regret their decision to buy an old tech car, when the Jeep offers so much more for so much less.

Since when am I the front of all knowledge? I know nothing (Sergeant Schultz voice used)
I have only had the car 1 week, and been in it all of 30mins.
I donít actually have the user manual yet so I am just using logic.
I tried the display settings in Uconnect day, night, auto, and it made no difference.
If you have to select Night mode rather than auto, it is deeply flawed.
I keep forgetting the light dial is where it is, I have it on Auto and it doesnít get touched, unless the misses turns it off as she may do because she does it in my Falcon all the bloody time.
The dial next to the light switch dims the EVIC as well, so not ideal when that is set correctly. I hope this is not what is needed.

For those that have got the Nav to dim with the night mode setting that did nothing for me last night, does it also change the colours of the Nav?
On my stand alone units when they hit night time (auto mode) the colours change so the background is black, and only roads are highlighted, usually blue.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Ok, on settings on the main screen, then hit display which is first option, then display mode can be set to auto.

Underneath these 2, you have
Display brightness Night. - +
Display brightness Day. - +

I have my night set at 5 and day set at 10

The auto will take account of outside lighting levels - ie rainy day lights on, doe snt dim.

Ps if the wife has been driving you crazy, this is also the screen where you can change the language to Francais, or German if you're feeling Shultzy - much frustration and merriment will follow, but don't choose Chinese in the interests in trying to get back to English ( this was an unsuccessful practical joke played by my son on my iPhone once - he now regrets )
