Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

On my Sat Nav and night time setting, not sure what happened, it is still set on Auto, but now it switches the Nav to night mode.
So no more extra bright Nav at night as it should be.

The final straw for me was when it slammed on the brakes at about maybe 15kms/hr and screeched to a stop in the middle of some traffic lights. Apart from the spectacle and embarrassment, it could easily have caused an accident. At times, it's not necessary to have a two or three car length gap in stationary traffic, especially if there's only room for 1 car plus maybe 2m of space after the intersection. If somebody was close behind, I could easily have been rear-ended. In the eyes of the law, it would have been their fault, but I would have known the me and my car was to blame really. I still have the beeps just in case I'm asleep or otherwise not paying attention but it does get spooked very easily, especially if an adjecent lane has traffic banked up... Maybe the recall will improve this behaviour though it has been in for uconnect upgrades sine the recall was announced and may ready have the 'fix'

Maybe it's because I have only done 4500K in 6 months and most of it on Freeways. Maybe it 's because I'm a Grandpa driver! I haven't experienced this problem. I have deliberately tried to drive up the back of someone and then either braked or veered at the last moment to test but have not experienced the braking to a halt. It has braked for me. and reasonably heavy but then I have taken over in fear that I may do a rear ender (because I still do not trust the car to do MY job) and it's all worked fine. I have braked and the car has allowed me to assume command. It does sound the alarm and flashes up the BRAKE, BRAKE in RED on the screen but I am yet to experience anything near being dangerous. Maybe I am just too cautious a driver and what I call "testing" the system is still too tame compared to the situations some members have actually found themselves in. However, I would suggest it is a marvelous accessory and certainly would not want to disconnect it. It could well save your life one day. Perhaps you are right, perhaps your Uconnect system is set on "super-sensitive" which your dealer may be able to modify. Would like to hear from any members the outcomes of any discussions had with their service managers about these reports in the future. Please post any other experiences and Service manager discussions for the benefit of those following this post.
Amongst the light stuff and the ramblings that go on here we do also discuss some very worthwhile issues which makes for interesting reading while the wife is watching some "lovie, lovie", romance or comedy movie on the telly. From time to time she complains about me being married to "jeepgarage" instead of her but really, some of those movies are too mushy for me. I'll stick with Jeepgarage.

Understood.

For the record, we frequently host large gatherings here for Sydney and intra-state people for an interest external to that of Jeep. It's never been an issue.

But I understand. Apologies for suggesting the idea.
SJandL,
I'd be in it. Would be nice to say hello but it won't happen because my wife thinks I've gone bonkers over this car. She had hoped long ago after collecting my car my activities on this site would have wained. Unfortunately she is still a jeepgarage widow.

Thanks for all your replies.
Jjhohan - your issue sounds similar to mine. I think I will have to contact the dealer for this 'cut out' problem.
As others say, the cruise control is great for increasing/decreasing 1/1.5 km/hr at a time. I was unaware that it clocks up 10 km/hr if held down longer - will try out today.

If I'm cruising along with cruise control on and accidentally press the Cruise ON/OFF button instead of the Cancel, the cruise function disappears completely. If I pull over and turn the car off and start up again the function still won't work - no icon appears on EVIC. Won't start up again until the car has been turned off and left for a while to think about it. Very odd. This is the only consistent bug I am experiencing. What a lovely drive. Already done over 11,000 kms.
My Ltd is doing something similar , it has only happened a couple of times, but it will turn itself off for no reason and can't be reset until I stop and do an engine restart, then works fine.

Hi Gforce,

If memory servers me correctly, are you the one use leather care product "bowdensown". I definitely remember it's mentioned a while ago. What're ur feedbacks on the product? If it's not u, apology in advance.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Am a new member, looking to replace a 2005 Patrol. $$ are definitely a consideration. Will be used for mainly suburban, with occasional beach fishing and caravan towing.
I've been offered a 2013 JGC Laredo with QL at substantial discount to 2014. am interested in opinions as to why I wouldn't take this in preference to MY14. Also on 2013 what does QL actually get you.
Thanks in advance

Yes that was me, I have used it once and I have not experienced any detrimental effects. My main concern with leather is where your skin makes contact, eg arm rest, seat squab and steering wheel etc, otherwise I just use a damp chamois for weekly cleaning. I noticed that Super Cheap are now stocking the Bowdensown product. Cheers.

I bought mine off a guy who imported it from the US. There is a US company that supplies them but it slips my mind right now who it is, but you CAN buy them.

EDIT: try here.... http://www.ebay.com/itm/2012-2013-Je...-/281145440308

Or here is where most people get it I think..........http://www.justforjeeps.com/srhibeco.html
