Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Sounds like you've got a lot more than your fair share of niggles Hez. It seems to be a bit of a lottery unfortunately. Your AC problems are well documented and an update to the Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC) system is available. If your service guys haven't applied it yet you have little hope of them fixing the trickier stuff you've listed.

I've read a bit about loose grounding points and fuses not pushed in causing erratic electronic issues... I'd be putting this to bed before going onto other approaches. Search the International part of this forum too.

U-Connect blackout should be fixed with the .51 update. What version do you have installed? Again, this will be a marker as to whether your service team are of any use.

Is blind spot monitoring unreliable on one side or both? Doing a bit of pre-analysis can assist us in pointing you in the right direction mate... whack your technician's hat on

Cheers,
Steve

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Just got off the phone from Werribee Jeep. Booked in for 6 monthly on 16/12/13. They offerred me a loan car (upfront - I did not have to ask) so that was nice. Apparrently Shannon has moved over to their Essendon Dealership (same owners) as Sales Manager so must call in one day to say hello to Shannon and inquire whether they are back in the business of giving hot deals like I was fortunate to get at the time with Shannon. A few things required. Normal service is 1.8 Hours but because of Uconnect Updates and N58 update etc it has now moved out to at least 4 hours possibly 6 hours.
Fingers crossed that my car comes back with the minor faults I have rectified without any new major ones. I don't like playing "Russian Roulette".

I have an appointment with the service guys tomorrow, I'll keep you updated if anything comes of it.
Many thanks iwantanotherjeep ! Very keen to fix.

Absolutely second that, and I did scratch mine as a result of being off .
Btw anyone else getting any rattles at 100 Kph ?

I have a little "tinkley" type noise from the front of the dash at around 100. I suspect it may come from one of the tin heat shields at the back of the engine bay. Not bad but there.

Next time you’re driving at 100kmh, stick your head out the window and into the engine bay to confirm it please.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Some questions for those of you that have the park sensors fitted as standard.

1. Can you adjust the volume?
2. Can you turn off both the front and rear sensors?
3. Do the rear sensors turn off automatically when a trailer is attached?
4. Is there any visual indication to tell you which sensors are beeping ie front or back and left or right?

We have the sensors fitted to our Laredo but as with the camera, they have fitted some aftermarket product that does not function the same as the genuine item.

Thanks.

Answers to questions 1, 2 and 4 are yes. I don't have a tow bar so not sure about 3.

My answers are for the SRT (and probably the Overland) but I don't know for sure on the Laredo.

1. Yes
2. Yes/No.... as far as I know, you can only turn off the front (but why would you?)
3. Yes
4. Yes, in the EVIC it displays which sensor is activating which turns red when your VERY close to an object.

Maybe a Laredo owner will chime in for you.

Interesting that your rear sensors turn off with a trailer connection. You must have one of the first real MY14 towing systems... or someone has wired it up creatively for you. Did your dealer fit it, and if so, which one?

Cheers,
Steve

So I took my GC to the service center today and it was behaving on the drive up, smooth shifting and only one bleep from the front sensors. So typical, whenever I take it in the GC seems to know and starts behaving, which makes the diagnosing of problems impossible.

So the service guys seem to think that the sensors are part of the recall, it had crossed my mind that this could be the case. TSB applied and the problem resurfaced on the drive home. Arrgghhhh!!!

With regards to the rough shifting, as I said, the GC was behaving on the way up with only the odd noticeable rough shift. They applied the TSB for the rough shifting and it seemed to be smooth on the way home, jury is still out until at least a week of driving around.

I also get a distinct vibration at about 800-1200RPM's when going up a slight grade in 3-6 gears between 30-45kmph. It is definitely a transmission vibration yet they seemed to think the TSB would also fix it. Since it was behaving on the drive up with only a light vibration, the jury is out on this one as I'm pretty sure I could feel it on the drive home, albeit much less noticeable.

They also thought that doing a wheel balance could fix the issue. I said it is definitely not a vibration from wheel imbalance. They did it anyway, I just hope that I don't end up with a vibration at 100kph now.

They updated my uConnect to the latest version which I am happy with.

All in all, frustrated with the sensors which makes me suspect about anything else being fixed. I'm on holidays so if it misbehaves I will have the time to drive it to the service centre and make one of them jump in to feel my pain
