Yes indeedy Webber. I have been watching and reading over the last month or so and the guys on JG that have taken delivery all speak very positively about it.

Good outcome PhilipHoney. Hope it hasn't dampened your Mum's enthusiasm for the vehicle too much though and she's still enjoying the drive.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

I asked this in another thread and was hoping to get some more info, I am planning a trip to Cape York on a tag along tour. the guide said I need 2 things, A lift kit and a snorkel, -as we'll be doing heaps of River crossings. I have QL air suspension which I hope will be ok but have been told that there are no snorkels for the Jgc 2014.
Anyone have any info would be much appreciated.

Haven't dealt with them directly before but it's handy to know who is who in such a secretive company that doesn't even advertise their postal address. I hope you guys (and girls) won't ever need to take it that far, but it's handy to know just in case you can't get anywhere with the customer service staff
A letter from Roadside assist? Relates to extra-long vehicle towing u paid for urself?

I understand Murchisons in Brisbane has one in development. The GJC air intake is much higher than most 4WDs, being at the top of the radiator support panel, so I am wondering whether I'm going to bother with a snorkel.

I thought the maximum wading depth was 500mm for the JGC, whereas the Ford Ranger has 900mm the Toyota Hilux approx 600mm along with the Triton.
Not sure where the JGC problems are with only 500mm but I would be looking carefully for a solution to get at least 600mm.
Good luck on the trip it is one I would be considering if I get the opportunity.

The height of the intake is not as much an issue as it's direction. It's aimed directly to suck in water forced under the lip of the bonnet. Other 4x4s have intakes same height but located where an air gap is likely behind the wave generated by the front of the vehicle. This is often in the top of front wheel arch.

BMW it's an assumption that the air intake is the Jeep limiting factor...could be something else.

Any JGC snorkel will need some very clever wintering, not much space at front of air box for a bend to poke the piping out the guard.
Hope they can do, it really needs one.

Good on you. I am a 'WOW" person too but then I have never been one to put money into cars until this time....and it's all wow, wow, wow. However, a real guide on the merits of this car would be if former Toyota Landcruiser, Prado, Lexus, Volkswagon Toureg, Mercedes owners etc would come on line and make it known that they have been the owners of those mentioned vehicles etc and can only say "wow, wow, wow" about this vehicle. That would be a more realistic guide than someone like me who has only ever purchased second hand cars (in the past) saying how good a car it is...WHICH IT IS. Speak up guys if you are out there. I am sure I am not alone in wanting to hear from you.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

As many know. I am one who would have purchased a Summit but was promised by Chrysler and my dealer we were not getting it in Oz. I am still somewhat bitter that people put S#@T on Milous and said he was talking nothing but crap. I even got a personal phone call from someone relatively high up in Chrysler Australia asking me questions about Milous wanting to know who this "dude" was leaking all the information about a Summit coming to Australia. Well, as we all know, the Master MILOUS was right and Chrysler Australia once again confirmed their reputation in the integrity stakes. However, the point of this rattling is I am an Overland Owner and pleased to be one but I have called in at Essendon Chrysler twice in the past two weeks to view a Summit but they have not had one on the floor. I will try again this week just to convince myself that I did make the right decision with my Overland. I am expecting to view a Summit and think to myself, "yeah, it's nice but". Question: Has anyone that was wanting to buy a Summit who has since purchased an Overland (as a direct result of lies put out by Chrysler Australia) since viewed a Summit in the flesh and formed an opinion about their Overland purchase?

We were also after the summit, but I remember going on line and having a look at the US version, and thought, what an ugly set of wheels. The dealer at the time ensured us the summit wasn't coming, but also said that the AU spec Overland was somewhat a cross between the US overland and summit. As we ordered in Jan, we had them add into the contract the limited wheels in place of summit, if the overland wheels were to be the same as the US summit. Thankfully they werent.
We had a VW R50 back in 2008, and can say it was a great car, the overland is in my opinion in a different category. We took the R50 over to Fraser a few times, but stuck to the beach, and didnt even attempt the inland tracks. Im sure the overland will be fine on the inland tracks. The R50 had much better road handling than the overland, but again, not really comparable. It was a v10, this a v6..... nothing wrong with the overland (apart from the oil leak thek cant seem to fix) but overall im happy with it. My wife loves it, so as they say, happy wife happy life. Oh the VW was also double the price of the overland. The VW leather was alot nicer.... and seats hugged alot beter. I like hugging seats.
