Thanks Snuke. I found the HSA control and tried it unticked. Seemed to make a difference so I will have to test it out more thoroughly later when I have more time.

I know it's been said before and I can't find the answers after scrolling back through many pages and forums. The Samsung latest phone works with VR on the latest Uconnect but is there a solution to the iPhone 5s? Everything works great on the car except no voice telling me what the message is and I can't send a text message either through VR. Cheers

Check this site for compatibility:

Jeep - Uconnect

FEATURES & COMPATIBILITY - iPhone 5s
Voice Texting - (free form text) X (= NO)
Send Voice Text Reply - (standard responses) X (= NO)

To enable text messaging for iPhones
- On the phone, go to Settings > Bluetooth. Press the arrow to the right of the radio name you are connected to (Uconnect by default) and turn “Show Notifications” on.
- Text messages on the handset will not download to the vehicle system after connection, but will update as new messages are received. Again after reconnection they will not download.
- If new messages received are not indicated on the vehicle system, please disconnect and reconnect the handset in order for it to begin working properly.

Odd, that link says it is not possible. That is what this gibberish was supposed to indicate

"FEATURES & COMPATIBILITY - iPhone 5s
Voice Texting - (free form text) X (= NO)
Send Voice Text Reply - (standard responses) X (= NO)"

Good for you it works now.
Maybe an update to Uconnect since they did that compatibility chart added the features.

God I hate this car at times. I have never been so frustrated with a vehicle in all my life. Just installed the latest Uconnect software and now my iPhone 5S will not pair with Uconnect. Before the update the phone worked just fine but I could not receive text messages. After the update still could not receive text messages so I disconnected the phone and have not been able to reconnect. I have been sitting in my car for the last 1.5 hours and no joy. It just stalls on the screen where the password is indicated. Phone indicates it has found Uconnect but will not connect.
Has anyone else had the same issue?

Doug I don't want to frustrate you by suggesting things that you have already done, but have you deleted the pairing from both the car and phone, then cycled the power on both before re-attempting to pair them?

You could also re-name your phone to force an entirely new connection.

Cheers,
Steve

I did eventually do that Steve and finally got it to pair but there seems to be other issues to contend with. The old paring password was 4 digits 0000 and the new version software is using a 6 digit password. When I accepted the new password the pairing process continued. However, when you go to settings it still shows the old 4 digit password. So, got the cheese and kisses to send me a text and it came through. Turned the car off turned and turned it back on and text was message gone. I was going to see if I could reply to the text. She sent a new message but it didn't come through to Uconnect. I then tried to send a text but the on screen message said something like, 'The system doesn't support text messaging refer to a Uconnect compatability website to see what phones are compatable'. I've given up, couldn't be bothered anymore.

It is recommended to delete the phones from the car, and car from the phones before doing the update.
I did this and had no issue pairing again with Samsung Note 2 and ipone 4s (iOS 5.1.1)
I have never tried the text feature, not sure if it would work with mu older OS on the ipone.

Can anyone give me some advise on rust protection? I'm thinking electronic rust protection but don't know we're to start. I live on the Sunshine Coast Queensland and will be doing minimum sand work. I will be going bush every now and then. Any advise would be great.

After Uconnect upgrade today, SMS with my iPhone 5s works perfectly. I didn't have to delete the pairing. All of the settings were kept during the upgrade.
