Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

I apologise if this question has been asked/posted already, but once people "actually" get final pricing confirmation on their GCs final costings (OTR),could you let those of who are "financially strapped" for cash know if anyone is getting a fair deal on their GC ( for me as I'm in NSW-Zetland)?

I don't really know since this is a 2014 model if anyone will be getting any special deals-but it sure would be nice to know "if" this were to happen-and what dealership & salesperson helped them out.

Cheers

What would it cost to option up to what you would get on your Overland.
exactly they are not cheap, but you can get a HSE ( no sunroof ) just under $100 for a 2013 model. can pick up 2012 under $90K and 2011 around $80K. so never going to be a cheap as the Overland

would seem at the moment they wont be discounting the MY14 as its a supply and demand thing, they can move them at full price as people will pay.. with MY13 however, there is talk of some good deals going like $10k of retail drive-away and these will get cheaper as we get closer to end of fin year and launch of MY14.
but CRD Overlands are very thin on the ground now

I'm in Sydney, I'm wondering if we should be doing a group buy similar to the group buys in the USA? Has anyone else thought of this?

A couple have mentioned it can't hurt.

Paige, if you read this, what’s your opinion?

I know when we buy cars at work (sometimes only 5 at a time) we put the offer out to a few dealers and see what they can do.
Usually they do have a lot more room to move, and the deals are far better.
There are enough of us here in Sydney to try it. Although frankly it would be hard to do until we have firm pricing for the 2014 range.
We would all need to have our specs finalised, and be prepared to move on something’s as to what will actually be available.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

There are brokers out there who do "bulk purchasing" when they have several clients all wanting the same vehicle or make.
You could do the same thing, and gather all the clients, their requirenments, then submit to dealerships requesting a bid for the business. Can't really be done for persons who have already done a deal.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Hi Allypally,

I ordered mine with a 'subject to pricing' clause, as most should have done on here. If they can't give me a good price, then I will walk away.

I'm not buying a Jeep to get rippped off, I'm happy to buy and pay a reasonable price, but at the end of the day I can offer them $75k, they can say no and then they can hand back my deposit(not saying this is the price I'm going to try for).

If I was to join a group buy, then they would either take the group buy at the price that was negotiated(including my Jeep) or they would say that they can't do that price and hand back my deposit. I'm not sure what the USA group buys have done, but if there is a mixture of models, then maybe a % off the RRP might be the go? What do you guys think?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

The difference here is that in the US there are many more potential buyers, so it wouldn't be so hard to get a group together.
However, here in Oz, there are not so many, and those who generally come to this Forum have either already committed, or are in another State, which causes logistical issues for them.
To give an example of discounts, if purchasing via Fleet, one could get between $5-10k off retail.
Also, if you compare the price, of say a Overland, in the US, and the same car here, you will note a significant difference. There would therefore appear to be a reasonable markup being made to Jeep Aust. What would be interesting to know, is what the wholesale price to a dealer is.

Jeep isnt like other manufacturers in Aust. Fleet buyers would be lucky to get 5% off RRP with Jeep Aust. For a vehicle worth 50k, thats a measly $2500.

We bought a pajero 5 yrs ago, and were able to save $13500 off RRP by going down the fleet path. Our Jeep overland 2014 has yet to be confirmed, however it wont even be 5% of RRP.

Jeep have no Fleet plan. I asked a few dealers about this.. However, if you went to a sales person asking for 10 vehicles Im sure they would listen.

Talking with the dealer we have been dealing with, a real issue has been trying to get a constant supply of GC from the states. Most of their stocks are sold prior to reciving the vehicles.
