Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

I have just noticed this morning that we don't seem to have parkers (Lights) like all my previous cars. the twist knob only has Auto-Off-Fog-Manual. When in the Fog position the DRL's dim and fogs are on, but no rear parking lights.
I have to be missing something here !!!
Is there a way to leave parkers on if you leave the car on the side of the road at night.??

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

I would think that you would need to select MANUAL, then turn on the parking lights.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

I can confirm the brake lights DO activate when using the Active Cruise Control.
As for the Falcons slowing down using CC, they will only gear down, not brake. I had a BF F6 and a FG GTE, both had the ZF gearbox and sometimes they would overrun the gearbox and the car would exceed the set CC limit. The ACC on the Jeep will use the brakes to maintain the speed set. The ACC is 10x better than conventional CC.

I agree the ACC is great and it is how all cruise controls should work. I also think the standard cruise might use slight braking to slow down. When coming to a road works speed limit from 100 to 60. when using controls on the steering wheel, it slows down to a point where it feels if the brakes are applied.
Comparing it to the FG XR6T ute I think the Jeep tracks the speed better with less overrun down hill. Another thing it does different to the falcon is when you increase the set speed on the steeing wheel control from say 80 to 100 the car wastes no time in getting to the new set point. The ford does accelerate, but not like the jeep.

This is why cars have reflectors built into the light housings isn't it?

My cruise control keeps the jeep at a constant speed going up or down the hills. Used the ACC today for the first time. Very impressed with it. :-)

Theres not much in the way of reflectors on the front and they are no where as good as having the parking lights working.

I tried rolling the round dial but no good.
It does refer to parking lights on page 91 of the manual.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Yeah I was wondering for much of the trip I've just done... why have the standard cruise control button on the steering wheel at all? I haven't noted one aspect that it has any advantage over the adaptive cruise control (ACC). Anyone got one to throw in the pot???

Even at... ahem... 140km/h, the ACC follows the car in front faultlessly, even through some twisty bits I was starting to feel uncomfortable with. The low flying local I had latched onto just North of Jurien Bay appeared to have a detector and "the knowledge", so I thought I'd hang with him for a while.

Also, I got a bit of a smile out of setting the ACC at 40km/h on some sandy tracks up at Point Peron... it prevented me from creeping over the OR1 height threshold perfectly. Occasionally it'd drop out, and so did regular cruise. After a while I figured out (though to be clear not 100% conclusively) that any wheelspin would cause it to deactivate.

Cheers,
Steve

Dontcha have to push the button in the middle of the dial?

Cheers,
Steve

Pushing the button turns the fog lights on and off.

Headlight Switch Settings from L to R: Auto - Off - Parking Lights - Head Lights

But, pressing the knob in, activates the Fog Light sequence also.

Engine running in park - turn the knob to Parking Lights, only DRL's on - No rear tail lights.

Engine off and in park - turn the knob to Parking Lights turns on DRLs and Rear tail Lights.
