In the US, the warning does come on before limp mode is forced, as it should be.
probably due to the difference in timezones between Oz and USA. Since USA is 17hrs behind Oz time, then they would get the DPF warning 17hrs before the car goes into limp mode. However, since we in Oz are 17hrs ahead of them, we lose that warning window. That's science for you.

That makes PERFECT sense Alan.

On another oddity, my cruise control turns off as soon as I turn it on very frequently.
Anyone else have this issue?

There's no reason it can't be done in a day.

Best of success with it,

The tow truck arrived and took the car OK.

Jeep dealer rang first thing this morning to say it had arrived and they hoped to have it fixed today.

So far so good .. then the dealer rang back this afternoon to say they hadn't had a chance to get onto it and wouldn't be able to fix it until Friday.

Not impressed. They claim they had no courtesy cars available and because we were less than 100km from home, Jeep Assist didn't apply to providing alternative transport either. Not worth arguing as it would be difficult to arrange anything anyway at this late stage and we can cope with the help of our daughters.Lucky all our Christmas/Boxing Days activities were planned for our place otherwise I might not be so easy going.

How stupid is it that the warning occurs as it should but then the car goes straight into limp so that you can't act on the warning.

Does anyone know how often the DPF filter cleansing works and has anyone had the warning happen more than once.

The only bright spot is the tow truck operator said that this issue occurred more often with Mercedes.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

The filter cleansing is not only distance related, but also driving style and fuel type etc...
It is a good idea to give it a good run from time to time to get the heat up in the exhaust.

It is extremely stupid that the warning comes on too late. I suggest you ask the dealer to file an official complaint or whatever to see that this warning procedure is like the US and before limp mode.

When Mazda released diesel on their less commercial/4WD cars they had and still have a lot of problems.

A10-6.

I had the "Exhaust Regeneration" message a bout 500 kms ago (7500kms on the clock). It was the first time I had seen it (the wife normally drives the Jeep) and it basically said that the DPF was 80% full. So off we went for a scenic trip to Bunnings rather than the direct route. I had no limp mode issues, but sure as anything I was not stopping until it had completed its "thing". Once started it took probably 20kms at 70 to 80 km/h to complete and it counted down as it went.

Hope yours gets sorted soon.

regards

Adrian.

Yeah it takes ages to plug into the data port and navigate the programmer to the manual burn procedure. Oh not funny hey! It's extremely fortunate that you don't need the car for holiday plans or similar.

And really not funny that it happens at the same time as the warning. I've never seen any regeneration notices in ~4000km and I'm the only one who drives the car. Maybe they only come on if the DPF is filling?

Cheers,
Steve

Hey Snuke, happens to mine also. Usually need to press the cruise control on button a few times for it to stay in standby mode. Mentioned it to the service department when getting some waaranty work done and they could duplicate it but couldn't fix it, so a star case has been opened and good thing is that Jeep knows of the issue and is working toward a fix.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Merry Christmas everyone - isnt it great being at work on christmas and boxing day. Jeep goes in for a service early in the new year with around 7500km on it by then and will get the n58 update done at the same time. No major dramas and still love the thing.

One thing to mention - if you guys do any offroading in the jeep and are in closed in tracks with brush either side, when you fold in your electric mirrors with the button, they will re-open over 16km/h i think it is. Quite painful as its a great feature but the speed is too low for when it re-opens i feel. I got caught out and managed to scratch my mirrors a bit last time we were out. Best option is to manually fold them in, just means you have to manually unfold them.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Merry Christmas,

here is a sad picture

I had driven from Port Stephens to Sydney and the Jeep gave up 10min from home.
- throttle control warning
- low oil pressure warning
- blind spot monitoring warning
Then ignition off.
5,800km on the Jeep.

Turned off Pacific Highway and got 500m and happened again.

Had the Jeep assist (alliance) come and just made a funny idle sound... eventually wouldn't even start.

The tow truck came and the jeep decided to start normally and I drove it onto the tow truck.

Eventually got home to find the letter from Jeep advising of the factory recall for MY14 JGC.

Jeep fixed on Monday... just the recall issue.

so hopefully all good and get your Jeep fixed!

Sparky

Sounds similar to me. What was in the recall letter, mine was a dodgy earth (apparently, still yet to drive it since it went in)
