Jeep upto its good old tricks. My wife tells me we received the recall letter on Thursday, so she called to book in the car for the New Year, and got a response from the service department of "what recall? We know nothing about one"
Her response was the one that has been in the papers and in the letter sent to us. ...
Just gives you a really good feeling that they are working on your car.

I would consider a substitute way of sticking them on - would have been worth it. Trouble is, the tip of the front strip broke when I opened the drivers door - this is the first time I noticed the issue. Even taking them off carefully, there were several more breaks. What a waste!

Having calmed down since my last post, note that I did have ceramic paint protection put on the car not long after purchasing in July. Maybe the tape didn't stick to this coating? Anyone with experience in this area?

Collozzie,
I have had good results with 3M Exterior Trim Tape. It's in a blister pack the tape is coloured grey with a red release tape.
It sticks like sh1t to a blanket. I use it on just about everything that needs a double-sided tape application. Just don't plan on having an easy time separating your parts.

Probably moot now that the parts have broken, but keep it in mind for next time.

Here is a video of what mine does.
First two times it goes on and I turn it off (you can hear me pushing the button), after that it does it itself, you can see the time difference.

I do hope my family have not recognized my obsession with my Jeep but the presents just keep rolling in.....Jeep branded T shirts, Jeep branded shorts, Jeep branded socks, Jeep branded shirts, Jeep branded mugs.

Jeep Forum Members:
For those who remember Robo_70, I got a response back. He is happy to be remembered to you all.
Below was part of his email:

Hi Greg,

Good to hear from you and I wish you a good Christmas also. I have not been on the jeepgarage forum for many months but trust the gang are enjoying their toys.

The Jeep has certainly been a hit and now I see many on the road. I also see they did launch the Summit !! Which makes me a little furious even though I did not end up buying. I will keep an eye out for the 7 seater if they bring one to market.

Best Regards

He got a Ltd ready to tow his van but.....................no towbar till January sometime!!

He's not amused, I said "Get used to it buddy!!"

Not the same but similar. It's the body that makes the shirt with you though mate. Good to hear from you. Merry Christmas to you.

I will be joining in the Cherokee threads though come June. (hopefully )

Still, 6 months in now and 14000kms on the clock and she's still running perfect. An absolute joy to drive.

Am going out now to clean her. We are hosting a big thing tomorrow including a few folk that we haven't seen in quite some time (yes - I'm all sorted and ready to go ) and I cannot let her be seen for the first time, in the state she is currently in. (Can't really see well out of the rear window at the moment it is so covered in dust and dirt and that would be one of the cleaner parts ).

So, once again all the very best, have a great Christmas and New Year.
Thankyou SJandL,
You are right, I will not be considering another JGC until the next major body change. At least you're clocking up the K's in yours. Will be interested to see the Cherokee in the flesh. The pics look very good. It may not look at prestigious in the flesh but I do think it will be a success. At some stage we will upgrade our second car as it is not safe my wife driving around in a little Holden Astra. No I have not let her drive JEEP48 yet but she is not in a hurry. I think its size and bulk is a little daunting for her. I keep telling her she can have a drive once I've put a few more K's up. It's just taking so long. 5000k in 6 1/2 months is a joke. So little use I can still smell the new car smell each time I get in. Wish you a lovely day tomorrow.....'spose everyone will want a go driving the Jeep!
