And Select-Speed Control will be made available to CRD

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Hi all

Firstly Merry Christmas to everyone.

Secondly enjoying my new Jeep GC Overland MY14 - Petrol. I am liking it more than the Prado now.

Thirdly - wanted to check a few issues that I have noticed and any assistance would be appreciated

- I found quite a number of rust spots on my new Jeep GC around the window trim and roof rack. Went back to the dealer and they had a look at a few other cars with same issue. They have advised me to come back in Jan (as they are appointing a new service manager) and then can discuss. The service centre guy who looked at my car advised that changing the metal strips around the window and roof rack is quite expensive. However my question to him was - this is a new car which is only couple of weeks old. How can it start to rust. Anyone else noticed this on their new car or any fix

- Recently used the Navigation and it doesnt show safety and red light camera locations. There is an option in the setting and it is selected but still no warning on cameras. Anyone noticed this issue.

Thanks
Abs

Thanks for your info Barboots. It's very true what you say about the MY13 vs 14. I'm very set on a MY14. I think I'll see what deals I can source on 2013 builds on the MY14 to see if it's worth saving a few dollars over a 2014 build. I have also read a few comments on Prado vs GC. I drive a prado daily for work and can safely say that the GC's I've driven so far appear to be much nicer vehicles and present much better value for money. The only area I haven't been able to compare is off-road and dirt road comfort. My local dealer doesn't have a demo in stock at present so I have to wait for that to arrive before I can test it out on some dirt.

Also, does anyone have any good photos on the cream interior, and do any owners have any comment on how it fairs with general dirt and grime? Much worse than black?

You can see several pics of the light frost interior in my Limited with Lux II seats here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/024bv5rhfxujrbt/FbY3Jxzwyv

Here is one:

After getting in a black interior last week I can say that I am 100% happy we got this colour. It is so much nicer, brightens the cabin up. We had black in our Pajero. Should be no harder to keep clean. Only scuff marks from shoes on inner door may show more. But in our black ultimately it stop out too.

Here are pics of Webber's light interior Overland. http://i1360.photobucket.com/albums/...psa539330e.jpg

There are plenty of reviews on Prado vs GC, including off road including this http://news.drive.com.au/drive/motor...127-2y99w.html

Thanks SNUKE for re-posting pics of my Overland. As you know, I would have had trouble re-posting. Zi-SRT: I love my colour. Only done 5000K so not much of a test and I am careful but easy so far to keep clean. More importantly, I have a business which invites lots of cars into our car park. Every time a Merc, or Beamer or something pulls in I am like a kid waiting for Christmas. I always go out and look at the interiors. Lots of these "upper market" vehicles have light interiors. I too was wondering how the colour would fair. I checked out all the light interiors coming into the car park and they were always spotless inside. More to the point, the light colour just looks classy. It automatically imparts "upper class", prestige, etc. Lighter, airier and all the quality easily displayed. The texture, the stitching etc. I must be sounding like such a snob but it's nothing to do with that. I just don't like looking into a black cave of nothingness. I also had interior protection done and the few marks I have made have wiped away with a damp cloth.....this is going to upset the "black" lovers, sorry guys.

Firstly, SNUKE, thanks for the photos - it seems you have the exact spec that I'm looking at. Do you find the Lux II seats worth the extra moolah? Temps where I am often reach 45 in summer, so the ventilation is the main reason I'm considering them - and why I looked at the frost colour to start with.

Secondly, Webber and SNUKE, I totally agree with you that the white looks much classier. It really shows off the high quality of the GC interior and just looks schmick! I think you've sold me.

I'm heading in to the dealer today while I'm here in Melbourne on holidays just to get a second quote.

Thanks again!!

It's a no brainer, easiest $700 decision there is. It makes them the seats from the Overland, the leather is a lot nicer and the ventilation is awesome.
As a result of the ventilation there is slightly less padding, as such they feel a little stiffer or less complaint to the standard Limited seats.
Test it for yourself if this is an issue, go from a Limited to an Overland and back at the dealership, paying attention to how they feel.

Even with climate control doing its thing very well, it was great have the ventilated seats going the other day when it was 42.

The biggest downside to the Light Frost Lux II combo, is that it will probably mean a custom order, and therefore the 4-5 month wait from ordering to delivery. I found it well worth the wait.

I will +1 you on that one new2jeepsa.

I saw a lovely gc a week or 2 ago (possibly longer now) with a nice shiney bar at the corner of goodwood/greenhill rd. Thought would try to take a picture of it from the other side of the road... Sort of didn't work out that well (picture is attached), but found out it was salmo with his personalized plates. Either way, lovely looking beast you've got there salmo!

Hi jasecoop.

We did pay for it, but it was reimbursed after much deliberation. We made it clear at all stages of dealing with customer service that we were 400+ kms away from any jeep dealership and we shouldn't be liable for something that should be covered under the roadside assistance which covers is Australia wide

SNUKE,
I popped in and saw a few GC's today. I fell in love with a white Overland with black interior, but I can't see the budget stretching to accommodate it. I didn't manage to see a white GC with frost interior, but did see a 300C in white with frost interior and this has been enough to sway me solidly back towards a black interior. If I was looking at a black 4WD it would be another story, but for now I'm set solely on a white limited with black interior.
