The one on my MY13 is smoke, like in the picture, and a genuine jeep one (even has a jeep branding on the corner). Can't see any reason it wouldn't fit since the bonnet shape hasn't changed. I will look up the part number from the invoice when I get back home in the new year if anyone is interested.

Registered my dissatisfaction with the dealer but am waiting for one of the Americans to fit the genuine camera. They thought all the wiring was there bit it seems it may not be. Anyway, can still use the genuine camera. No excuse for the rubbish camera they have fitted.

Check out the camera thread Rear View Camera in Laredo?.

It certainly won't hurt to press the two rotating buttons below your uconnect screen. One is the volume dial and the other (thinking without the car nearby) is the browse button. Press them simultaneously and hold down for a few moments to reboot the screen. It works on most occasions otherwise you need a technical wiz like SNUKE.

First impressions ...

Someone at Jeep Chrysler must have been on some kind of vision altering substance when they picked this camera....perhaps its looks great to them... Jeep please could you pass some of that substance around so that we Laredo owners can use this @#$%^&* camera to see what you see!

If I come back as a fish it might help as well.... its an OMG moment! waited over 3 months for nothing.

NO GRID LINES !
FISH BOWL - IMPOSSIBLE TO JUDGE ANY DISTANCE.

Its the biggest joke Ive seen for sometime... as old tennis dude McEnroe used to say ... 'YOU CANT BE SERIOUS' JEEP.

Lol...I just have to laugh....!

Calling Aussie Laredo owners who have had a camera installed....have you replaced it yet ? If so what did you use or who replaced it for you !?
Mine was fitted about a month ago and does have grid lines ????

I can only compare the picture quality with my wife's Hyundai i30. The JGC is not as good (particularly at night) but is OK. The lines on the JGC are a little off centre but usable for reversing into a parallel park and help with judging distances. I find the fishbowl effect OK. I can see approaching cars as I commence reversing from an angle park. I also like the fact I can see the tow ball. Great for hooking up the caravan.

It was the genuine Jeep one fitted, just my choice of words. The darker background makes yours almost look black in the pics. Good to know.

Uconnect Re-boot:

Hold Mute and Tune buttons for reboot. All settings remain as is.

If that does nothing then:

Factory reset: Hold temp up and down buttons to access engineering menu.
This engineering reset will wipe all settings.
When it restarts it will do so with SRT screen, and take a few minutes to get back to normal, freaked me the hell out when I did it and didn't know about the SRT thing.

It is almost black. Here's a pic of my one on a white.

Here's the one you saw on white.

ForumRunner_20131229_073938.jpg

The one above is different to mine as it has no clips. Mine does and has rubber nipples that face the bonnet.

Mine is definitely a 2013 and I'd say the one you saw Snuke is for the 2014.

My advice would be sight the bonnet protector first to ensure you get the colour and design you like.

Yeah, no clips, it was simply screwed in from underneath.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Hi Australian Jeep Grand Cherokee owners,

My name is Michael and I became an owner of my first JGC (or any Jeep) last week. We picked up a brand new Limited and so far are very happy.

There are a few things I noticed and I hoped that more experienced JGC owners might have some answers:

1) Sat navigation via voice recognition - seems this is not working in Aus yet. Is this correct and if so does Jeep have plans to fix it?
2) UConnect access to applications - again seems to be unavailable in Aus, any plans?

Thanks for the help
