Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Hi Michael, welcome.

1: Correct short of "Go Home" we currently don't have VR for Sat Nav due to a stupid programming fault that has the system confused. It should get fixed at some point.

2: As we don't have Uconeect Acess (3G data connection) the apps are useless for us, so not applicable.
For their pricing, I doubt you would want them - http://www.driveuconnect.com/feature...cess/packages/
The SRT guys get some performance based apps, but that is it.
You can run most of what is offered through a smart phone and bluetooth for far cheaper anyway.

One thing you can do re Uconnect, is to make sure you are on the latest version - 13.43.7
Se this thread - UConnect 8.4 International / Export

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Hulloooo, Looks like I need to contact Macquarie Dictionary for a new buzz word. Hymernised...... hmmmmm, has a noice ring to it.

And another word of mine, Blingerisation/blingerised, they're also catching on.

Keep up the good work people.

"That Hymernised one looks alright. And has the JEEP in the middle."

"Aparently you can get it in chrome. That's if you want to Hymernise your car."

And dont forget to vote for the Word of the Year (The WOTY's) in the Macquarie Dictionary site here........... Macquarie Dictionary

Blingerisation/blingerised and Hymernise are the WORD!!!

We'll the Jeeps going through its first cyclone. Had to go for a drive first thing this morning and it handled the strong winds and flooding with ease. Now that it's Red Alert it's all tucked up under cover at the friends place where we are staying.

What's everyone's thoughts on tint for the JGC? Apparently the base tint is privacy glass only, no UV protection.

Worth getting someone to layer on UV, or don't worry about it?

I've yet to verify this via a channel which doesn't benefit from tinting in some way. That said, I thought it was the case. We've just done a trip to the North West and I've got to say it didn't feel like I was getting baked when I had a session in the back. So I'm not so sure now?

Even a mate who tints wasn't committal on the topic... he just said let's whack another 90% on it anyway

My gripe is the fact you have to be careful with the film, but anyone who's had a broken window will confirm that having film keeps most of the glass out of the interior. So there's at least one benefit.

Cheers,
Steve

Friends of mine who have had their Jeep GC for a month have just gone and had the tinting done. Without it was too hot. They say that it is great now that tinting is done.

I'm making sure that it is done at the first service. That way I wont pay Lux Car tax on that too!

Yeah.. I'm getting tinted added on the delivery, but they've just said it's going to be the privacy tint without UV protection. Not sure what this would do for the heat, if anything.

I guess if you could take it NW without issue during summer then UV mustn't be an issue but this was in the context of adding "leather protection" to the quote, so I assume they're trying to infer that UV will destroy the leather

Im with Barboots. Ive been trying to find an unbiased factual answer for a while. Jeep actually calls the glass "deep tint sunscreen glass" to me that means UV protection. ....
As for the LCT, any accessories fitted in the first 12 mths after purchase are technically subject to it.

Boom! Thatís new info... got an ATO ruling on it by any chance? Not that I want my girlfriend to see it!

I suppose I could always say the latest batch of accessories are for the Prado catching dust in the street

Ciao,
Steve

Ciao,
Steve
Ill get my wife to find the ruling. Shes the accountant.

Edit:
She tells me in order to explain and understand LCT you need to know that LCT is a dealer tax that they on charge to customers. (Kind of like a credit card fee).
The dealer is responsible for making adjustments to their BAS in regards to the LCT they collect on accessories. Eg: they should be asking for your rego or vin when selling after market products to you, and then claiming their LCT payment from you (the customer) so they can pay it to the ATO, making adjustments along the way. If they neglect to do this, then I guess they could allocate the sale of that accessory to anyone who has walked in off the street.

Ill get the relevent ATO document when the misses isn't knitting......
