Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Thought I would post a copy (below) of discussion on the Problems Forum about MY2014 CRD oil leaks. Perhaps a bit more prominence here.

I've had the response below, and a PM advising of an oil leak from the oil pressure switch. Anyone else experienced oil leaking so I am best informed before the 10,000km service on Friday?

Join the club. Ours has had the same leak you have described since August. Its been looked at 3 times, had the lower and upper sump seals replaced, last time it was in for 3 days. They were so happy they fixed it.... only for me to call the service manager the next day with the good news that it was still leaking. Goes in for attempt #4 on Thursday. My wifes dealing with them this time.... no more mr nice guy

This is my understanding MMC. If I didn't contract the accessories or arrange them pre-delivery... no LCT. In the fine print of tax law it may be applicable if the accessories are installed by the dealer some time later and the arrangement could be construed to have been crafted to avoid LCT.

However the statement suggested any accessories within 12 months attracted LCT, and I believe that requires several qualifications, especially with regard to who supplies them!

Cheers,
Steve

With the complexity under the bonnet and dealer skill levels, I wouldn't be surprised if the subsequent leaks were new ones created whilst repairing the original ones!

I hope you can get it sorted... oil leaks from your new car are kinda embarrassing

Cheers,
Steve

I would concur. Practically speaking, order accessories a few months after delivery and u can forget about the LCT as long as there's no evidence which would suggest otherwise.

For their pricing, I doubt you would want them - http://www.driveuconnect.com/feature...cess/packages/ The SRT guys get some performance based apps, but that is it. You can run most of what is offered through a smart phone and bluetooth for far cheaper anyway. One thing you can do re Uconnect, is to make sure you are on the latest version - 13.43.7 Se this thread - UConnect 8.4 International / Export
Had my August delivered (after a months wait due to Prix) MY14 LTD CRD back to the dealer today for the N58 fix. I asked them to update the U Connect to 13.43.7 while it was there. When I picked it up they said that the U Connect hadn't been updated because there was a 9 week wait for the update disk! When I questioned why so long, they said because of the high number of disks they need to produce!! I said that it was available as a download on the internet, their response was that this was very expensive!!! When I said it was free, their response was that it was unsuited to my car!!!! By this time I was running out of explanation marks and left. They had clear the car (obviously something within their capabilities).

It's interesting that I had no leaks until my 10000 km service. Noticed a small amount of oil on my pad at home coming from the sump plug. I checked to see if it had been fully tightened and to my amazement - Not !! So I'll be head under the body checking to see if the leak continues or maybe the seal is broken. The service manager said that they had had a few failures from the washers and that if it needed it replaced, just drop in. I suppose there will be an service bay on the Hay plains or the Nullabor as I travel to Perth in the next few weeks.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

I guess it does not surprise me that the dealers are still relying on disks, rather than download the updates directly from the server. This would avoid any waiting and allow software to be upgraded with 0 days waiting.
It really is not acceptable excuse for the dealers in the 21st century.
Very poor form.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

I got it straight from the Uconnect site with smoke signals.

There is a TSB (08-049-13 REV. G) for this upgrade, and it clearly states: "NOTE: Software updates are now available for download to USB on the Uconnect web site and can be used instead of ordering a disc."

One would have hoped that the dealers at least READ the TSB's.
