In mine, auto, the rear always spin on gravel before the car starts moving when the front appears to kick in. In mud or sand mode, all four get grip (or spin!) from the start.

I agree the 2014 Laredo camera is a piece of junk, your $21 camera looks much better. I can't understand why jeep Aust didn't supply a decent camera considering how long it takes to do the install.

Peanut, thanks for the differential rear park camera photos, chalk and cheese.

Do you mind if they form part of my aggessive submission to Jeep Aust?

I get mine fitted this wednesday and will compare.

As mentioned, the fitting time is 4.5 hours so why wouldnt they put a quality camera in while theyre at it??

Bluey

I just had our Laredo in for the 10k service and I reported the camera to them for the third time. Their response was that they agree the camera is not good, but it is the same in their other Laredo's on the floor so there is nothing they can do about it. I requested that a my13 camera be fitted instead and was told they would not do that.

Looks like I am in the same boat as Peanut. Do you have a link to the camera that you purchased and any tips on fitting it. For $21 I won't have to deal with the dealership and jeep au incompetence any more. Greatly appreciated.

Thanks Snuke, contacted Dealer and they were surprised that this should be happening, they suggested I bring the vehicle for a reinstall of the updates, I decided to hold off and see if it pops up again, otherwise will get it done at the 10K service which is only 1200 km away.

Peanut,

I too have the same camera as you had; can you please detail wiring modifications that were required for the new camera install.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Have been reading on caravan sites about weter in diesel fuel in country areas and cost of repairs if water gets past filter. So is there a water extracting filter that can be used. I understand there are devices that can warn you when water is detected in fuel. What are your experiences.

Thanks

The 60 Series LandCruiser diesels (and 75s and 80s from memory) had water separators part way along the fuel lines. If the light went on you just undid the thumbscrew on the bottom and dumped the contaminated fuel. Given the increasing complexity of diesels and their fuel systems, I'm at a loss that they have been passed up on. I've seen ads from the "gun" diesel workshops advertising retrofit solutions, but haven't taken the bait yet. With our recent trips I knew that we could fill up at high turnover truckstops.

Cheers,
Steve

The factory mopar rubber mats are a waste of money and time. If you want mats to actually protect the floor, get some from Supercheap Auto or similar.

The rear cargo mat is okay but even that is pretty thin, I put some light tree branches on it and they pierced through it.

Also the rubber they are made from seems to hold the dirt in them. Tried scrubbing them but they don't come clean.

On a different note this car rocks! Have spent the last 2 weeks in the NSW Snowy Mountains. River crossings, endless dirt tracks and towing my 2ton caravan and she hasn't missed a beat. So happy with this car.

Sorry about the triple up on the pictures. Using the app and it told me it didn't work.
But you can see how the rear rubber mat is smaller than the carpet ones.
