Yep.. I usually get a work trip each year that includes Germany, oh I love driving there. The autobahns wouldn't work if they had the number of garbage drivers that you get in this country. My cousin in Germany told me that it costs €5k minimum to get a license mainly due to the cost of the training.

Usually also in the US once a year too. Found it a little more hit and miss but for sure more curtious on average than here.

Yeah, I want to see it to!!!

Taking about looking back. Today I was stopped at traffic lights, behind a shiny, polished Hyundai and thought to myself, "That really is an awesome looking car..... reflected off that rear panel." Those drl's get me every time.

NZ drivers take the gong for the worst in the world. I don't even know why they bother to paint white centre lines to be frank. It appears to be an optional thing whether to keep to the left or not and clearly the indicator is marked in the NZ road code book under the 'optional use' category as well.

I used to blame it on the tourists but even I have had to give up that argument.

And I am a Kiwi so I can comment.

I concur with Germany being excellent.

Germans are mad too, drive too fast and had one crazy one try to push me off the road as I was driving too slow, as to Asia I am not game to drive there, its bad enough being a passenger. Florida I haven't had the pleasure but have driven 1000's of miles in the other States over many years, I still think they are good drivers, you are right though about the speed, they do drive fast on the freeways and you have to keep up, being 10 mph over the limit is the norm. ( In a 75MPH Zone) At a fuel stop I asked a local Sheriff how do they feel about the excessive over the limit speed, his reply was "As long as the traffic is moving along we are not concerned, but we will go after the ones who are speeding excessively".
Our Police would have a ball over there.. hey.

(Why would Jeep use black painted steel screws here?)
Thanks for the heads-up Gforce. I climbed up today (goodness that roof is disgustingly dirty) and checked it out. The screw on the front left rail is showing early indicator of rust ie: I can see a slight rust stain on the rail.

Other than replacing the screws, thoughts on alternate ways to deal with it?

SJandL, my roof is sparkly clean. I just went into the kitchen department at the local supermarket and purchased a super soft wash sponge thingy which is on an extendable handle and "Bob's your Uncle". Only takes a sec to wipe the sponge back and fourth across the roof. Its not actually a sponge but a very soft mop like device with a hundred or so Octopus fibres extending off the end of the head.

I've removed one of the screws and I can confirm it is plain steel with a black coating on it, there is a fibre washer underneath which is good news as this would make for a watertight seal. The screw is hard to remove as the thread has Locktight on it and also required a special hex type screwdriver tool to remove it. Maybe as suggested earlier you could apply some sort of coating over it like a marine grade silicon ? Open to suggestions...

PS:,Sorry Webber, this quote comment was meant for SJandL. Good idea about the roof cleaning gadget, must get one myself.

Just finshed taking a jgc for a test drive.
I must say I was impressed with just how smooth it was (diesel model).
So has anyone brought the overland with indigo & brown interia?
Was told their is a 4mth wait for this option.
Also can't view one as theirs none around lol.
Waiting for a change over price.
Will keep my patrol for 4x4 Duties.
Also is the overlander worth the extra 7k ish.
Personally I hate the non colour coded panels on the limited.

auscop and Butts_Oz have this interior.
Sounds like it has to be ordered in for you.

I sure hope you want more than colour coded trim to consider an Overland over a Ltd. Otherwise that is a lot of extra cash.
Only you can answer if the extra is worth your dollars, I can imagine every Overland owner here will be very happy they paid the extra.

Yep, happy Overland owner here!
  • The sunroof is fantastic!
  • Quadralift makes it versatile (lowers the car another 1.5 inches making it possible for the pregnant missues to get in and out more easily!)
  • Adaptive Cruise Control is useful as well as cool (long highway drives and not getting speeding fines!)
  • Ventilated seats are awesome, especially for hot QLD days
  • Looks great with the overland grill and bodywork

The Rear cross-path detection is a more annoying than useful I've found though.

Have I missed anything??

I've ordered a LTD with beige interior and the offroad and air lift packs, looking like 4 months for me. It will replace the 100 series cruiser for daily drive and 4x4 duties. I hate the colour coded trim and chrome on the overland....
