Thanks for the replys guys.
Yes they have to order that trim in for me.
4 month wait.
Kind of feel I'm getting really old going a white automatic suv.
The sun roof and air suspension are another thing we wonted.(can get it on the lmtd)
Also that trim colour which I can't have on the lmtd.
Time to start shopping around.

Well you can get the air suspension on the ltd, not sure about the panoramic roof.

  • Adaptive Cruise Control is useful as well as cool (long highway drives and not getting speeding fines!)
  • Ventilated seats are awesome, especially for hot QLD days

The Rear cross-path detection is a more annoying than useful I've found though.

Have I missed anything??
Yes, everything that Andrew has said except for the rear cross-path detection. That's quite good actually. (sorry Andrew)

We are of the mind when purchasing any vehicle that the less add-ons needed the better so we always tend towards the upper of the variants.

To that end, for the Overland we only had to add the ORAII pack because we required under-body protection and we also added the tow hitch/bar. Those together added an additional $1600 to the cost of the vehicle (excluding LCT and on-roads).

Webber - The extendable handle cleaner thingee - why had I not thought of that. Thank you.

Gforce - some sort of silicon coating was what I was thinking of. I mentioned it to the husband who mumbled something about 'replacing the screws would be the best option' coupled with 'just wipe the rails down each time so moisture doesn't hang around'.

Clearly not helpful and not interested although to be fair, he is a little absorbed at the moment with getting younger daughter's Honda Prelude in a sellable state, (she has purchased a new car) and has left Dad to fix up the Prelude to which he has dropped in a new sunroof and had to redo the headliner as well as fixing all the doors, rewired the electrics so everything now works as it should including the sunroof, added new remote locking/unlocking etc and generally getting it back to its original state which included a visit to the smash repairs for a repair and respray of various body panels.

So, anyone want a VTiR Prelude for their daughter?

Naturally, being a good JEEP family she purchased a Jeep Cherokee. I'm chuffed by the loyalty of your household.

At the and of the day we are thinking if we option up a lmted it's still a lmted when it comes trade in time.
It seems you get no extra cash come trade in time for the extras you originally put in it.
So if we step up to a overland we wont be putting any extra accessories in except tow hitch.
Which might mean a tad more cash when upgrade time comes around again.
We optioned up the car we are trading in.
Looks like the trade in price only really covers the money we spent on upgrades.
So they are getting the car for free lol.
Thanks dan

So has anyone brought the overland with indigo & brown interia?
Was told their is a 4mth wait for this option.
Also can't view one as theirs none around lol.
Waiting for a change over price.
Will keep my patrol for 4x4 Duties.
Also is the overlander worth the extra 7k ish.
Personally I hate the non colour coded panels on the limited.

It's alright for me to say go for the Overland because I was in a position to be able to afford it. I have no regrets. Every extra was worth every cent.
Remember, if you purchase a Limited and then start adding accessories to bring it part of the way towards an Overland you are unlikely to get any of that money back. When you trade in you will get only the Trade in Value of a Limited. It sounds unfair but that's the way dealerships work. They will pay you for a Limited and then they will place it on the allotment with a big sticker on it advertising all the wonderful extra's on it and value add the resale price to improve THEIR bottom line NOT YOURS....and that came from the dealership, not me.

Webber's right - which translates into 'Get the Overland'.

A Laredo will always be a Laredo, a Limited will always be a Limited, an Overland will always be brilliant. Ignore the Summit.

You will get very little for every extra accessory you add.
Where as you will get most of the extra you spend over the Ltb back on resale, well that was my logic for getting Ltd over Laredo, as there sure isn't $10K worth of extra gear in my opinion.

Another way to look at it is the extra electronic gizmos you get in the overland may cost more to repair and maintain than not having them to begin with.

Looking at 5 year old diesel GCs in QLD with low kms, the difference in price between a laredo and a ltd is only a couple grand.....

Window tinting

I'm getting quote on tinting as leather seat is quite hot while the car parked under the sun. I have a couple of queries:

1) Has anyone had rear window (not rear side window) tinted? What's impact, if any, on defroster?
2) a few installers recommend Suntek film. Is it any good compare to other brands?

Thanks

Mmc

I'm surprised there is a two grand difference. Unfortunately the earlier models had a bad reputation and no re-sale value. (which is unfair for those who own one, especially if they purchased one just prior to the My11 being released. Knowing car salesmen they would have sold them to unsuspecting buyers a week before rolling the My11 onto the showroom floor). So, two grand is probably not bad. I can't see anyone wanting to buy one (pre MY11 that is) at any price.
