Drive safely at highway speed to remedy" and the car is in limp mode. 4189 KM on the clock at the moment. Last time this happened to me when it had only 280 KM on the clock. Last time I was out of car for four days. Penrith dealer refused to look at the car saying that I needed to take it to the dealer that I bought it from. This time I am not going to contact Penrith. Even though Penrith is closest to me. My dealer is pacific highway Artarmon. I live in Blacktown, NSW and Artarmon is not very close. Not very happy. I don't think I will keep this car for very long. Will sell it soon and never ever a Jeep again.

Feel your angst. Is your driving mostly stop-start low speed urban style? Another factor could be faulty DPF filter. 'Regeneration' message popped up on my screen when I drove the car home from delivery, the odo-reading was only 15km. Luckily regeneration completed around 15min. I took the car to the freeway for a couple of hours 'clean' on the same day. Haven't seen the message popping up since, fingers crossed.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Thanks Webber for your touching email and sorry I didn't reply. I just finished having surgery for the big C and it's all good now. That blasted "Black Dog" also gave me a huge bite last year and didn't let go for 12 months.

All good now.

Great to see that there's the usual posts of wonder and dismay. I missed the banter hence my return.

Bruno, good to see you back.
You haven't missed much. Every fourth post since you last read is simply a comment to hang shit on you.
So all normal.

Hope all is on it's way back to some form of normality for you.

I found Shona from JA quite helpful, even had the dealer call me and resolve the issue , then followed up with a further call to ensure that I was happy.

Perhaps past complaints have made Jeep realise the importance of customer service.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

I believe that Jeep USA is working on a model Jeep (I think Milous can support me on this) that will never have:
  • transmission problems,
  • electrical issues,
  • suspension breakdowns,
  • rust,
  • oil leaks,
  • expensive oil and fuel filters,
  • and a host of other problems.

It has improved:
  • independant suspension
  • Incredible fuel economy

with no mechanical services required!

What do you think of the new model?

On the DPF thing, there is a post from a US driver, I think in the DPF thread (too hard to find on phone) where he said he simply drove it out of limp mode. It took a while, but slowly the revs started to rise and eventually got back to normal.

DPFs are causing issues across the board, as already posted, it was a big problem for Pajeros, right now it is a big problem for Mazda 3s & 6s.

I thought we all knew very well that Chrysler Aus were a disgrace for service in every possible way. But it was a calculated risk we took to buy what is the best value car of its type.

Even if I have a 100% trouble free experience over the life of owning this GC, I will not buy another if the new Pajero (I mean really new, not just a mild body change) can compete in 3+ years time. While I know Mitsubishi aren't perfect by any stretch of the imagination either, I know they took care of my problems very quickly when I had them.
If I can remove that risk factor I will.

So far we are very happy we have taken the risk of buying a Jeep and possibly dealing with their support or lack there off.

And he's back.

You have obviously never had the (dis) pleasure of owning horses. More trouble than any Jeep by a long way.
At least our GC won't bite the bonnet of a car. My old Pajero can tell you that horses bite.

I had the same support from Mitsubishi Snuke and was hoping for a similar experience here. The support extends to dealers feeling empowered to make decisions and receive fast advice, parts and approvals to support their customers.
As an example Mitsubishi covered:
Split seat after 4 years and 9 months - warranty covered it.
ECU problems - after several failed attempts at a sporadic ECU problem, head office (Adelaide) leant me their scan gauge computer for almost a month to record the problem occurring so they could accurately diagnose the issue (of course the car ran fine for the month but it was the thought that counted!)
Several other minor issues fixed. No problem.
Keeping my eyes peeled for the 2015/16 Pajero too when they play catch up.

I'm hoping for an experience like my last 4WD. Buy, drive, service occasionally and never ever break down or get stuck

Cheers,
Steve

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

These DPF issues are depressing. Regens after 15km and 280km is ridiculous. It makes me wonder what "normal" is though. My previous car regenned roughly once a tank. I'm on my third tank on my GC and haven't seen a regen message yet.
