Mine had a cap off the steering fluid filler in the air box.

May be everyone should check their air box for a surprise from the Jeep factory!

I had first taste expensive jeep parts. Noticed a paint chipped on wheel arch, so I called the dealer parts dept inquiring price for touch-up paint (deep cherry red). The price is just under $40, $20 more expensive than that of toyota Camry.

Anyone knows less expensive source of supply?

Tnx

I better race out and check mine! Maybe the tailgate handle and replacement glovebox lid and lock that I've been waiting 3 months for might be in there

Try autobarn. They custom mix colours. Or... if you know a panel beater, ask them mix some for you.

Yes aftermarket is the way to go, there are automotive paint suppliers who will custom mix paint for you and even supply it in a spray can. I've used one in Caboolture (Qld) to mix some paint for me to match my motorcycle colour. Also as suggested try your local automotive shop, 40 bucks is ridiculous.

Here is one for those of you who like to discuss Oils.

My dealer uses Castrol Edge Professional which they tell me is approved by Chrysler Jeep Aust, I contacted Jeep Customer Service and I was informed that any low ash synthetic oil that meets the standard is ok, it apparently doesn't have to comply exactly with the Chrysler standard as oils are changing formulation all the time.
I then contacted Shell Aust re their Helix Oil and this is the response I got:

Our Shell Helix Ultra Extra 5W-30 meets ACEA C3, but is no longer tested against the Chrysler MS-11106 specification.
The product would be suitable for out of warranty conditions.

Kind Regards,

This is what I found the cheapest in NSW for Mobil 1 ESP 5w-30. Don't know how much a typical dealer charges for the oil. But I think I will BYO for the service.

I bought a box from them, thinking I'd need a bit extra during run-in. It hasn't used any in 9500km, and the gauge shows 65% life left on the oil.
Pretty happy with that.

Mine was much the same it used a very small amount (about 100ml) for the first 10,000Km.
Curious about your gauge comment, is this something that is not available on the Limited CRD?

I don't believe the car monitors the condition of the oil.
I have had two oil changes at non service intervals in the first 10,000 km and mine reads 16%
I'm guessing the dealer forget to reset it

Mobil 1 Price List — Top Grade Oil at Lowest Price
My dealer charged $176 for the oil, they said there was no problem in me supplying the correct oil and Mopar filter ($165) at the next service, hence my checking out oils. My 'Truckie' mate advised me to not use Castrol, he said that a lot of guys in the industry wont use Castrol due to various problems encountered, but then these guys do run up millions of km's under heavy loads. (His rig has done over 2 million Km's... wow).
