Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

There is thread about this report - Consumer Reports Can't Recommend Cherokee, Calls It Half Baked

I get the feeling reading the comments in the report that thy are like our Choice. So a bunch of morons that know nothing about much, miss the points completely and should basically be ignored.

Question about parking sensors.

This is how my GC behaves: front parking sensor does not beep on 4th or 3rd arch, and rear does not beep on 4th arch. Is it normal as based on owners manual, it should beep?

Tnx

I don't need to be warned about the Cherokee MMCRH. I read that report a few days ago and laughed because that was all it was good for.

We take a very pragmatic approach to our vehicles, pay small heed to consumer reports like Choice et al and get on with it.

I'll let you know how good the Cherokee is when I have it parked in the driveway.

I was just kidding! How could I sway a jeep fanatic like u. :-) :-)

Curious about what report card they had for 2014 JGC?

Given ur GC has been faultless, forgot to ask u about how ur parking sensors behave ( I post earlier). Tnx

'07 WK has never let us down. Total spent in the last few years (aside from oil and tyres) $74 on coolant after splitting the hose but husband just fixed that and she also had new front struts in the last 12 months.

'14 looks to be going the same way ie: no issues. Given that, the Cherokee is a no brainer for us. Not interested in looking at anything else.

My most favourite vehicle though (if I could have the legendary '10 vehicles in the garage') would be the Chrysler Crossfire. I don't care that it doesn't like corners.
Just had a look at that Crossfire. Yep, does look sleek and sporty but are they safe. If a Crossfire hit head on with your Overland who would walk away from the accident. One of the main considerations of moving into the JGC was its size, weight, safety etc not to mention it's gorgeous looks.

I have no idea about it's safety features Webber. Probably score a 2 or 3 on the ANCAP rating scale but that's not the point. They don't make them anymore anyway, but if I was a collector of cars and had unlimited funds, then the Crossfire would be in my garage. It is such a good looking thing IMHO.

MMCRH - I've never paid much attention to number of beeps associated with number of arches other than 'Oops getting a bit close' so shall test tomorrow and pay closer attention and report back.

Yep, it does look good. They are available in the $20K's.
Now you are a lot younger than me but I have had the odd chuckle with friends about life. You see adverts of stunning Gold Coast Apartments with a young couple looking out at the sea from the balcony. You see beautiful sports cars to drool over with "I wish" thoughts. Usually the promotional material features a young couple or a very attractive female driving.

Now for real life: We own three (3) beachside apartments (one in Lorne, Vic. and two in Queensland at a town called Agnes Water/Town of 1770) and I'm getting old and I know most around me in these complexes are of a similar age. Same for sports cars. I recall a few weeks ago seeing a sports car with what appeared to be a young woman behind the wheel. Just for a while tried to keep up as was curious as to the appearance of the driver but once pulled up beside that car I am afraid my expectations were confirmed. By the time you can afford the car you are sporting more wrinkles than the amount of dollars the car cost. Life is a shame in some ways.

All I can say is maybe life is meant to be that way because I would not like to grow old without any financial resources to go with it. You need something to help compensate for that aging process.

Hi all. I am in perth and I set my air con at 23degree. Turn off air con before I stop the engine, then when i turn on the air con after i start the engine, air con blows hot air and i checked the temperature is set on HIGH. This already happens twice since i picked up the car from the dealer a week ago. Does anyone experience this? Thanks
