Highway cruising with the van and a lot of big hills in the Snowy and I'm happy with the economy.

2,000km's and an overall economy of 12.1 L/100k. The BRFT has 6,500k's on the clock now. Approx 750km range pulling the van.

NO DPF problems to date.

Van weighed 1.75 tonne, I know a fleas weight for what it can pull. But comparing it to the Hyundai Santa fe crd that would have returned an economy of the high teens or even 14's.

As mentioned I sit on 100kph on the highway and the engine oil and the auto temps hardly varied in the hills.

The big disappointment is the sound system in the Laredo, very ordinary. My cooks car is a 2001 VW Golf and that sounds better. Very hard to get a good balance between bass and treble.

AND the rear park camera is Ok during normal daylight but bright sunlight and dark parking is useless.

There really does need someone to take Chrysler/Fiat/Jeep/Dodge/RAM/Alfa etc to task and get them to provide equipment suitable for allround view.

Any lawyers out there in Jeep land want to take this on?? I'm with you if there is.

Anyways, Jindabyne and the Lake is great as is Thredbo, took the chairlift up to the top and walked the 6.5k's to the top of OZ on Kosciousko.

Legs and hammies were suffering for the next 2 days.

Could really see where the bushfires were there in the Gippsland area.

Summary; love the JGC Laredo crd.!!!

Bluey
That feeling of getting away and freedom is priceless. Don't stop.

How do we fix it? I believe that the Subwoofer is below par, would replacing it help?

Good luck with that. You would have to do the amp too. Several have done it on this site, and it is more of a hassle than it should be.
The sub is uncontrolled boomy junk.

I found adjusting the fader to 100% front cleans it up a little. No fun if you have rear passengers though...

Cheers,
Steve

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Hi all
I need a __All in One__rear cam monitor, dash cam, GPS for the MY 2014 Laredo, if that also has an reversing cam with grid lines that is o.k. I know there are Clip On mirrors out , but many don't fit over the Laredo mirror. A monitor with the above mentioned devices would be good . On my Caravan is a Waeco reverse camera, I don't like the idea having the dash or front window full with all these gadgets. And that frees up all the power points ( cigarette lighter sockets ).
Has anyone overcome this problem or know of a mirror with clips wide enough to fit over the original mirror, please let me know.
Thank you
nordi

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Well the DPF saga continues for now, after visiting the Jeep mechanical rep last Thursday morning and being told he was waiting on his licence for the machine from Jeep (assumed renewal) please phone up Friday.
No joy Friday, please phone back Saturday, no joy Saturday please phone Tuesday, (see where I'm going with this), phoned Tuesday morning still no joy, phone back this arvo, now put it in the wife's hands I'm at work and no longer have time.
She makes the call and now he tells here he doesn't know when he is getting his licence back better call the dealer in Perth!
Spoke to dealer in Perth and they explain that when the DPF had its first case of constipation and he done the manual burn, they should have changed all the oil and filters and it would not happen again.
So now they tell us to ring Jeep assist and have the car transported to Geraldton (1350km away) to the nearest dealer.
Phone Jeep assist and explain it to them and they are very helpful and offer to sent it 220km to a mechanic at Karratha, explain that the dealer wants it to got to a proper dealership give them the guys name and number and they will ring back Wednesday.
Road assist phone back Wednesday morning Jeep is now going 600km north to Broome, still not to a dealer but a service agent (not real happy about this as I have read reviews about this guys work to someone else's Jeep) but hopefully things work out.
But wait there's another change of plans Jeep assist phone back again the truck driver will be there Wednesday arvo and the Jeep is now going to the dealer in Perth (1700km away), any way it has been picked up put on a truck and gone.
Phoned up the gentleman at the dealer ship to ask while they have it to give it the 10,000km service, he says what! last he heard it was going to Broome.
So if anybody, anywhere, spots a Maximum Steel Laredo with roof racks and a dark bonnet protector on the back of a truck please point him to a dealership and let me know where it is.

Jesus wept.

Man that is unreal. You seem a lot calmer than I would be... I think I would be flying to Melbourne by now... with a can of whoop-arse in tow.

I sincerely hope they pull their shit together for you.

Cheers,
Steve

I think moral of the story is don't buy a jeep unless a dealership is within 100kms of your house. And even then, you'd probably want a second within 100kms of your house, incase the first is crappy!

Man, that really is a horror story. I feel your pain...

Have you considered ringing Melbourne and asking to speak to the GM? Go through the main switch rather than customer assist.

That's the next option if this does not work out, hopefully it is returned early next week all sorted out. I may phone them anyway to see if I can get the Pilbara Toyota dealership up here to look after it, they look after all the Toyota's and Nissan's up here and are a lot more professional.
