She makes the call and now he tells here he doesn't know when he is getting his licence back better call the dealer in Perth!
Spoke to dealer in Perth and they explain that when the DPF had its first case of constipation and he done the manual burn, they should have changed all the oil and filters and it would not happen again.
So now they tell us to ring Jeep assist and have the car transported to Geraldton (1350km away) to the nearest dealer.
Phone Jeep assist and explain it to them and they are very helpful and offer to sent it 220km to a mechanic at Karratha, explain that the dealer wants it to got to a proper dealership give them the guys name and number and they will ring back Wednesday.
Road assist phone back Wednesday morning Jeep is now going 600km north to Broome, still not to a dealer but a service agent (not real happy about this as I have read reviews about this guys work to someone else's Jeep) but hopefully things work out.
But wait there's another change of plans Jeep assist phone back again the truck driver will be there Wednesday arvo and the Jeep is now going to the dealer in Perth (1700km away), any way it has been picked up put on a truck and gone.
Phoned up the gentleman at the dealer ship to ask while they have it to give it the 10,000km service, he says what! last he heard it was going to Broome.
So if anybody, anywhere, spots a Maximum Steel Laredo with roof racks and a dark bonnet protector on the back of a truck please point him to a dealership and let me know where it is.
Being so isolated really increases your frustration. Hopefully, trouble free motoring is not too far away. I can understand you buying the JGC over a Toyota Prado as it (now) is the better car but you can see why so many Toyota's sell having better parts backup and more dealerships (particuarly out bush). It would be convenient if your local Toyota Dealer could service/repair your car but I would think that would be a pretty poor PR exercise for Jeep if word got out. If Chrysler are going to maintain their new found lead over Toyota they must do something about backup service & parts which is a known strength of Toyota's. I know in Melbourne more dealerships are being granted with the success of the improved Chrysler brand, and it is probably being mirrored in other Capital Cities but more needs to be done for the bush/outback to consolidate the Jeep Brand. I have been so lucky but it's stories like yours that have me carting an old tree stump around on the back seat to enable me to "touch wood" just prior to pushing the ignition button each time. It should not be necessary.

Aparenty Jeep Aus are building up the spare parts in Aus. Not sure if this is just BS but if true I guess things could be on the improve for Jeep Aus Service?

typing with fat fingers on a little keypad on my phone
With the numbers of cars they are selling it would make sense that they would start stocking locally..... but who knows.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

I also was told from a Jeep dealer that they are looking at a warehouse for spare parts in Australia. So hopefully the spare parts supply will improve over time.

Not supporting anyone Webber... just speaking of my impression. I've noodled with the settings now and probably won't undertake the major upgrade work I intended ... though with the sale proceeds of my Prado in the bank it's bloody tempting!

Maybe just a little upgrade work

Ciao,
Steve

Someone found the key then?

Chrysler opened a new warehouse in Melb a year or so ago. Your Jeep dealer seems to be a bit out of the loop....

Even with the new warehouse, parts supply is as bad as ever. And over priced.

Sorry to confuse you. I meant to say it appears your Overland sound system is no better than what is in the Laredo/Limited. It is that part that came across as odd because the Overland is meant to have additional speakers and the subwoofer etc. I may well have a decade or two on you. I'm used to getting my music via the old "crystal set wireless" whereas my son (youngest of 3) watches TV with total "surround sound". He cannot understand how I can watch Tellie with the sound coming only from the speakers mounted in the Television.

Yeah I kinda thought after maybe you meant that. Sorry old mate!

I think expectations get the better of us sometimes. Some Overland owners might feel that the "upgrade" system should be better... and I've read the same from some Summit owners. Many of both are entirely choofed... it's a good thing we're all different.

To be fair, with certain source material the Overland system can sound pretty good. Push the volume or choose music that doesn't have much "space" in it and things get nasty. Anything with rolling bass gets messy. Listening to my back catalogue is providing some suitable tunes... and mellow newer stuff seems to mesh better with the sound system's tune.

It's great that you're happy with what you hear though. Maybe all us winging about it should get on to your playlist!

Cheers,
Steve

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Radio reception with regards to WSFM (and I think Snuke has already mentioned this) is not good on '14 Overland. It definitely has something to do with (I presume) the aerial because '07 WK does not suffer from this issue.

Smooth 95 FM is fine. There is a particular spot that does lose it all but that is not anything to do with the MY14. It does the same with '07 WK and also the daughter's VW Golf and Mazda in the same spot.

I have noticed in the last two weeks that on WSFM that I now have 'Last song played', 'Current song' and 'Next song' on the Uconnect screen. It just started happening about two weeks ago - obviously something new being transmitted by the radio station because I haven't updated anything on the Jeep side of things.

Also with regards to Webber's and Barboot's posts - Elvis sounds really good in the cabin as does Van Morrison and the Eagles.

And Webber, nothing wrong with speakers on the television. We have a Sony 65" 4K Ultra HD 3D screen and lo and behold, the speakers are on the side of the telly. Fabulous thing (or maybe we both suffer from 'cloth ears')

Every single day. Can eject and change discs whilst driving with eyes still on road now.

That will be why it sounds so good.....it's all 60's, 70's & 80's. I love it because you can actually hear and understand the lyrics and sing along.

My youngest pukes at it (and he is 29). For fun he has loaded a couple of his songs on for me to play at the lights to shock anyone pulling up beside us. It's unbearable stuff but he cannot listen to our music. Head phones go on with connections to his own music. It's sad really.

Can't say I have not and never will. I've had to load all my music on and iPod and EQ the bass out so I can listen to music at any level of quality. I have to agree with most that the sound system is very sub-standard and it frustrates me when I have to head back to the radio. Maybe digital radio quality is better and we suffer from a sub-standard head unit and the speakers are suited to mid range music. All the top EQs are missing and the youth culture of maxing out the Bass has influenced the Jeep sound engineers.
