I'm discounting Fireball's report because I understand from his WP post, he took delivery of a demo vehicle that had 180kms already on the clock and we know how far demo vehicles are driven (just around the block for however long). I would take his case as being a failure on the part of the dealership and they should have run a regen as part of the pre-delivery checklist just as a precaution. Who else has had the regen/limp mode failure that I've missed? Can we attempt to establish some sort of pattern maybe that would perhaps point to a faulty batch of sensors (guessing) or a software glitch (guessing), or something else, over a particular build period? Is it worth trying to do this - attempt to establish a pattern that is?
Hi SJand L my limited CRD built July picked up in early Oct, now has 7600 Kms no regen issue as yet but I do a lot of freeway Kms . I also tend to let the engine breaking hold the gear, which may actually help with the burn off .

Hi Snuke, in the video he speaks about a diesel conditioner , I am using the woolworths vortex diesel as well. My question is should we be adding a diesel conditioner in or does the vortex already have it ?

BTW finally fixed the rattle , for those that have one, it was a combination of heater lines through the firewall which the dealer fixed and a heat shied that I found flapping against the cross member on the drivers side

So this is the oil in my engine at present and as used before (in my 11 yr old Nissan Patrol) I use a Diesel additive in the fuel, which claims above other things to improve combustion. So far all is well, the engine starts and runs smoothly no DPF problems or other warnings. (biggest complaint is the crappy sound system... ha ha) But as I said in a previous post there is a lot of technology in this engine so reliability may not be as good, but again who really knows? maybe it will last for hundreds of thousands of Km's. Only time will tell. PS: Big thank you Snuke for that informative video from The Lube Page re the DPF and ERG. Makes you wonder if our Aussie mechanics are 'up to speed' on these things.
Hi Gforce, what additive do you use and how often do you use it. Many thanks Beggsy

I do this as well, especially around a particular downhill S-bend corner that I go through twice each day each day minimum. I don't brake at all now and it holds 1st and chops to 2nd at the very end, but the revs go high and stay high before it goes to 2nd and onwards.

But that is only for maybe 5-6 seconds so I don't know whether that would help or not. Surely not (?).

Going in the opposite direction and up the hill, I also hit the gas and bring the revs high (sometimes hitting 4) but once again, I don't think it holds long enough (before the taco settles back into somewhere between 1-2) for it to make any difference. I dunno?

I'm a bit perplexed with regards to this Regen issue.

Just had the 10K service at John Hughes (Perth for non WA people) and they accepted the Mopar oil filter voucher, no questions asked.

I got distracted by a shiny thing and didn't finish watching it. So not sure what the purpose of the conditioner is.

Here is what Caltex say about their Vortex fuel.
http://www.caltex.com.au/PRODUCTSAND...n.aspx?ID=1786

Vortex Premium Diesel

Categories: Fuels - Diesel

Caltex Vortex Premium Diesel has been specially formulated to clean your car's fuel system while you drive.

Over time, performance robbing deposits build up on fuel injectors due to engine heat.

The build up of deposits happens slowly so you may not notice the performance of your engine decreasing.

Deposits reduce combustion efficiency, which leads to power loss, slower acceleration, increased fuel consumption and higher exhaust emissions.

By removing these deposits, Vortex Premium Diesel helps restore lost power and economy.

A critical area of the engine where deposits can form is the fuel injector tip.

The picture shows the effect deposits can have on fuel spray pattern. For optimum performance of your car, the fuel should be delivered as a fine spray.

Caltex Vortex Premium Diesel looks after your car by removing injector tip deposits. This ensures a better quality fuel spray, allowing the fuel to burn more efficiently and completely.

You'll use less fuel and that's good for you and good for the environment.

With its excellent cleaning ability, Vortex Premium Diesel helps restore engine power output, acceleration and smoothness.

Caltex Vortex Premium Diesel is designed with new common rail diesel technology in mind and is ideal for the most advanced turbo-diesel engines.

Caltex Vortex Premium Diesel, is designed to make filling up a cleaner more enhanced experience.

Caltex Vortex Premium Diesel contains an anti-foam agent that significantly reduces the risk of splashing and reduces the odour that can sometimes be left on your hands when filling.

UConnect 8.4 International / Export

A new update just came out today.
Uconnect 8.4 14.05.03 Update / RG4-RJ4-RJ3
I have tried two operating systems and 5 browsers but can't get the Uconnect site to work. And the VIP direct download is taking hours and hours for me, so I will be updating tomorrow I guess.

Is there a change log for this update?

Wonder if it improves the reverse camera jitter.

That's the one, I have been using this Australian made product for many years now. One litre bottle treats 1000 litres.
Go to www.chemtech.net.au and have a look.

See this http://www.wk2jeeps.com/tsb/tsb_wk2_0802114.pdf

Nothing about camera jitter, lots of the same from earlier updates.
