Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

I've just had a random thought about how we drive our vehicle that may or may not be relevant to the DPF discussion/issues.

This vehicle, since its delivery has never ever been taken off ECO mode. Ever.

I wouldn't know what driving feels like in non-ECO nor Sport mode.

So it has driven nearly 20,000kms soley in ECO. Would this make a difference do you think? Just a random thought though and throwing in a variable.

ECO shouldn't make a difference, if it made any difference it would be worse as your revs are lower thus exhaust heat is lower, and not burning off particulates.

I don't think so. I seriously doubt that the car would be so sensitive to mode selections. No manufacturer would build a vehicle that would be so sensitive to minor mode changes or have a DPF system so sensitive as to enter a limp mode if one fuel/stability control mode were chosen over the other.

I've used mine in Eco, Sport, and manual mode and haven't had any problems with a regen (but I've never seen any messages either).

I think it's something else at play here....

Maybe it's fuel related - dirty diesel makes more soot?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Just been playing around with my car and I might try to trigger the alarm, gave it a real good shake but nothing. My Summary Report (from Milous) shows a Security Alarm, code LSBS, and I have a red flashing light on the dash. I have tried tampering as per the manual, P15, but none the the listed tamper alerts occur.
Has anyone else with a Limited found the same.

While dirty diesel would explain the rate at which the DPF blocks up it doesn't explain why the car isn't able to clean it....filling up is what it is supposed to do but the car is supposed to automatically burn it out....and that is not happening in a timely fashion hence the limp mode.

I understand that, this seems to be (at least ) two problems - unusually high DPF clogging and software glitch/design that stops the burn-off...

I believe that the Limited doesn't have an alarm.
Certainly not one on mine.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

I've just had our second DPF warning at 8,800kms this morning. The first was at 8,000km and was cleared.
I had to park and shut down the car while the DPF clean was in progress today. What are the consequences of shutting down the car while the DPF burn is occurring? Does this mean the car will be in limp mode when it re-starts?
FYI ours was a July 13 delivered car. Don't have the build date or VIN with me at the moment.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

So you had the alert that says it is regenerating? Did it enter limp mode and require clean out at the dealer last time?
