As I said earlier my build sheet from Milous shows an alarm, code LSBS, has been fitted and I have a red flashing light in the instrument cluster.
Seems some do and some don't. It will be in for the 10k service in the next couple of weeks so questions will be asked.
It would have been good to have been armed with some positive info when speaking to the dealer.

If the door locks fail to open from the inside which can happen with an electrical malfunction, there is supposed to be a way to open the boot manually. From memory it says to remove a cover and pull a latch or handle. I had a look and there is a cover of sorts on the boot interior, but i couldn't get it open. Has anyone tried and found for sure where this manual release is?
There is no in the owners manual for this procedure.

Page 46 of the US owners manual 5th edition:

• In the event of a power malfunction to the liftgate, an emergency liftgate latch release can be used to open the liftgate. The emergency liftgate latch release can be accessed through a snap-in cover located on the lift- gate trim panel.

Do you think I can find one picture of the inside of the liftgate on the internet, nope.

It is the inside area of where the rear handle is, there looks to be a panel about twice that width, the manual release should be under it, but I just want to confirm incase I ever get a phone call from the misses swearing at me because the car has locked her in.

Last Uconnect update is 13-39-51. Any later ones? Am going to try a Uconnect download myself.

Bluey
Bluey (and Jarse) - The latest Uconnect update for the export model is 14.05.03

A couple of us have updated to this over the last week or so including Snuke and it takes about 20 odd minutes.

Here is the thread:

http://www.jeepgarage.org/f219/uconn...tml#post983750

Post #6 by Milous is the change log (ie: what it has fixed)

Post #27 by Sox is the link to the download file which is up on his Mediafire site.

The PDF instruction sheet that I used to load it was provided by Sox in Post #1 of that thread. You have to enter the user name and password that he provided and once into that site -

- click on Uconnect Touch 8.4 2013-2014 up

- click on the 8th option which is: software_upd_process_international_14_05_03_R1.pdf

This is the PDF instruction sheet that I used although there is a TSB on the WK2jeeps.com site which also has an instruction sheet for the loading of it but that one just confused me. I found Sox's one (just like the previous update) easy to follow instructions with screen shots.

Just had a read of the manual and it is mentioned on P27, the NOTE in bold.
I haven't tried taking the cover off tonight but might check it out in day light (I'm at work at the moment)

Ah yes, that story a few months back with regards to the woman being locked in her Audi had me going to look for some sort of emergency exit in the Jeep and per the owners manual I also found that emergency latch.

I have never been game to try and pry it open though, so Salmo, if you're game, that would be fantastic.

It will be interesting to see if it comes off without ripping finger nails or if you need to keep a jemmy bar handy in the boot.

If your in the back seat you can pull the door lock up with your finger as the lock knob is above the door trim unlike the front doors which are level when locked. It's all mechanical so an electrical fault shouldn't stop you getting out.

I think we were talking about having to exit from the boot, if needed.

Yep - somehow stuck with doors not working for what ever reason - perhaps large boulders blocking opening due to an earthquake that you have somehow managed to survive (can you tell I am a Cantabrian?) and the only way out (short of smashing the glass which is really a drama because you forgot to purchase that $5 implement from eBay) you think you will perhaps exit the vehicle from the rear end if only you could figure out how to pry that emergency latch which appears to be very well embedded into the moulded plastic surround.

And then you think - 'What did Salmo do?'

For the record just had my company vehicle updated to a Prado and can honestly say my GC is soooo much better.

I concede that the reversing camera is better on the Prado, but I spend 99.9% driving forward so I don't care.

Controls are so clumsy I actually find the car frustrating.

As I get home from work and walk past my car in the garage I can't help but jump in the driver's seat for a quiet moment and bring myself back to motoring in 2014.

Seriously driving the Prado I feel that I need to be listening to a 'Best of the 80's' tape. Actually I think there is a void in the console where the tape deck was.
