There is a thread in the US section already but I can't be bothered looking for it. Search something like - Seats Moo'ing.

I wonder if it was a very smart move by Nissan to only use a petrol engine?

Avoid all the DPF problems that seem to be surfacing with new diesels from all manufacturer's not just Jeep...

Not having a diesel will hurt sales, aussies like their diesels. The smartest thing is to have a dpf but help an aftermarket supplier develop a delete kit.

Removal of the DPF is backwards logic. Personally I think defeating emission devices should result in public beating or similar

The solution is to implement the DPF system properly and include the following safeguards:

- A freaking gauge in the EVIC. Duh... this requires programming work only. Information is power!
- A damned manual regeneration button. This would cost a dollar or two plus a dab of programming.
- And ultimately a bloody internal bypass tube so the system can bypass itself if it craps out. Moderately limited power, limited hours before restart... whatever... anything is better than the current outcome.

Isuzu trucks have had the first two items for years. The last is my own genius on waking

Cheers,
Steve

That would be ideal, it is silly that if the dpf system fails to work properly you have to get towed to a dealer to do what the car should normally be able to do itself. All that would be needed is a warning to park the car outside, and ensure there is nothing combustible under the car (ie. dry grass).

Surely a software update could be provided to allow this.

edit: we should be discussing this in the dpf thread, as per snuke's earlier suggestion

The Export section where all our relevant posts are.

We have just gone on a huge run of DPF talk, BennO has tried multiple times for people to post vital info in the DPF thread, only for it to be fragmented here and there. If some other new hot topic arises, all this DPF talk gets lost, and then some poor sap drops by and asks a question that should be clearly detailed in the DPF thread.

This is a general thread and sure talk about all aspects, but when we start having post after post after post after post after post after post after post after post after post after post after post after post after post after post after post after post after post after post after post after post after post after post after post after post after post after post after post after post after post after post after post after post after post after post after post after post after post after post after post after post of a specific subject, it should be in its own thread to help everyone.

If I was a Mod on here then I would be doing as I do on my own website and moving the posts to the relevant thread.
Hey Snuke, what website do you run? Can I take a look?

Thanks.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Hello everyone

I have found the information on this forum invaluable (and often entertaining!) We are heading off on our big trip around Australia for 6 months in April. Fingers crossed all goes well (I especially dont want a DPF problem!) I have a towing query, but will post that on the towing thread.

We bought 4 18" rims ( removed the 20"). I am trying to track down 2 more as spares. If you are selling,(or can point me in the right direction, not much on ebay or gumtree at the moment) please let me know.

Thanks
