Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Hello All , I have been reading this forum on and off for a few weeks now and it has been an education to say the least. I have also read the thread on the diesel Grand Cherokee on the Australian Caravaners forum, which I sure a lot of you know of and contribute to.
I have been researching for a new vehicle to fit my requirements for a vehicle that will occasionally tow and see some sand (sometimes at the same time!) but mostly do the more mundane task of providing daily transport. I made the assessment that a MY14 JGC Limited with Q/L in Red with beige interior was the car for me. After taking my wife to the dealership to get her valued input, we walked away having ordered a MY14 JGC Overland in white with beige interior!

Information assembled from various contributors to this forum (and contributors to the caravaners thread) will assist us in setting up our vehicle for its role. Thanks for the good information, problem sharing and solutions.

We now wait for delivery. Ordered mid January. VON provided mid Feb. Awaiting further info. I may ask Milous to track....

Cheers
Graham

Skiddy, I had my 10k done last week and it read the same. Most likely it has something to do with Australian service intervals being required in half the distance they are in the rest of the world. What a load of crap. Australian road and traffic conditions are no harsher than those in the USA. We've been conned.

My dealer reset the oil meter during the seevice.

But you shouldn't have to.

I watched the service tech do this to mine when I took it back.

Reset Oil: Vehicles with diesel engines (export models):

1. Cycle the ignition to the "ON/RUN" position (Do not start the engine).
2. Fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it fully depressed for at least 30 seconds.
3. Press and release the brake pedal six times while holding the accelerator pedal pressed.
4. Perform one ignition OFF-ON cycle, start the engine and verify that the reminder has been reset

If still warning oil change due then repeat.
isn't that the process they use to obtain the "E Number"?

Welcome to the forum Graham.
Can I ask which dealer you went through?
Certainly get Milous to track your vehicle as my GC was being built in the wrong colour and after I contacted the dealer it has now been reordered in the right colour. This means a delay of at least another month taking the delivery out to 6 months. I don't blame the dealer as I have seen his paperwork the problem lies with Jeep Aus and their ordering system.

They will most likely deliver a Red with Black Interior.

Thanks for the welcome and the advice. I WILL now ask Milous to track and provide the spec sheet. I definitely do not want a black interior, but a colour 'mistake' to red will be OK by me but my wife will have a fit.

Sorry to read yours is delayed by a simple mistake that should not happen in this day and age. When did you order and when do expect delivery now?

My dealer used Total quartz ineo 5w30.
I did a search on it and could not find that it meets the MS-11106 but the dealer assures me that it is perfect.

I am also in Brisbane - are the Brisbane Jeep owners on this forum members of the Brisbane Jeep Club? Is there any benefit to this?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Hey this gets even better. Castrol Edge 5W30, which is what appears to be used at a lot of dealerships here, doesn't even appear to meet ACEA C3. This is the grade for "Catalyst Compatible Oils". Personally, this is something I'm more concerned about than the holy grail of MS-11106 from Chrysler.

Our strongest ever Castrol EDGE range of oils | Castrol EDGE Australia

Maybe the DPF / Limp Home survey data should also include what oil was installed?

Ciao,
Steve
