So 2000 vehicles are destined for Aus in the next 6 months approximately. I would think that should mean a good supply available once initial arrivals start being delivered. All depends on how the distributor feels about the customers

I will ring my dealer tomorrow and demand ( as far as I can ) an E number.
Jeep AU is selling @ 900 Grand cherokee's a month, and that is with a 4 to 6 month wait.
So 2000 GC's is only just enough to cover 2 months sales, so it's likely AU buyers will still have @ 4 month wait after ordering

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

2012 productions was 154,734 / 365 = 423. I guess with holidays and shut downs the number would be around 500 / day

The first shipments (now enroute) will arrive to AU ports the week of May 20th. additional shipments will be arriving continuously from that point forward. Within days a total of over 600 will be on their way to AU, I would expect by sometime in July there will have been thousands delivered. A lot will depend on when they release the CRDs, as those will me making up the largest percentage of builds.
Thankyou MILOUS. Looks like it is all about to happen. Please clear up the quote above listed here, ...."A lot will depend on when they release the CRDS".
As you have confirmed some CRD's have been made...I think you mentioned about 60 odd....and of the next 600 almost ready to be built 85% being diesels. You have mentioned soon they will be shipped daily with thousands here by July. Could you clear up what you mean by "A lot will depend on when they release the CRD's". Why will they be holding them back. Is there a reason? Quality control etc. and what is the normal "hold back"time.
I ask that because most of us wanting Overlands are seeking diesels which we have been given delivery dates approx. June/July. The news that it looks like we WILL get them in July is fabulous unless the holding back of the release date prevents that.

Hi Gigi_boy,
Hopefully Milous will have news for you soon. Good to see you will get your Summit soon though.
Thought I would post your request again in case Milous had missed it.

Ciao Webber,

thank you very much for your support :-)

I'm very happy for all of you, to hear that the CRD is on the way to Australia.

Exactly that's the point, why it's very hard to wait for my ordered Summit and doesn't have an idea, when they will start to build it.

Unfortunately I can't find any information about the CRD production for Europe (Switzerland) at all in this Forum. That's the reason, why I hope the get good news from Milous ;-)

I would very appreciate to get the new car already in June! to go on holiday with it.

Gigi

My dealer had told me a while ago that even if my jeep sees Aust soil in Jun, Aussie Rego cannot be put on a 2014 model until 1 Jul at the earliest. IF... it arrives early!

What a load of rubbish from a dealer

The "MY2014" description is used solely to differentiate the car from the 2013 model ( ie the 8 speed tran for one point ) and is needed because the model designation of WK2has not changed. There is no reason why a 2014 model can't be registered here prior to a certain date.

It's dealers and distributors putting a spin like this that makes me suspect anything they say. Just come out and tell us what they plan and why. Then we can decide whether to wait or not. If demand is high and the phones keep ringing with impatient buyers then deal with it and be proactive in keeping us informed. Surely that's better than the alternative - a quiet dealership with cars languishing on the floor.
