Thanks for the welcome Webber and others.

I sent a PM to Milous about 4 hours ago re tracking my vehicle from the VON provided by dealer.

Bugger me if I don't already have his reply! Legend!

The bad news is, my car hasn't even been built yet.

I did see info on another recent contributor to this forums car. Same status which is not surprising given the order date was two weeks after mine.

Oh well. Ill just have to keep reading forums....

1I had my first Service this week too. I was pretty happy, they even washed it for me. $350 after they took off the $50 for the oil filter voucher though they told me that cjd only accepted it as a good will gesture and it was intended to expire in 2012. They used that caltex one mentioned above. Was done at cricks mt gravatt, cricks always had a good name on the sunshine coast. Never bought new before and took my last two cars to the local repco who is really good, I'll switch back there once the gc gets a bit older and there are not as many fw updates coming through.

Here's the cost break up ex gst for my 10k service. $113.5 labour makes up the total $318.

They only put 8 litres of oil in, doesn't it take 8.1?

First six month service today with 5670 km on the clock. I picked up the car, was on hurry and did not check anything. Out of the service centre and on the freeway. Just realised that I was leaving everyone behind in the lane cove tunnel. Looked at cluster and found that speedo had been changed miles. All of my radio and climate control setting had been changed. Seat was in incorrect position and mirrors were not in my normal position either. I asked them to check the rattle in sunroof but rattle was still there. They told me that it was fixed. Car had a number of marks of dirty hands on leather and on the body out side. Not happy with the service .
When my car had its 6 monthly service I showed the service manager my door sills and pointed out to him that their was not one scuff mark. I asked whether they placed protection over the sill when getting in and out to which he said no. I warned him that I would be looking for any scuffs. Anyway, car came back fine but I could see him watching me as I poured closely over the vehicle when taking delivery.

With experiences like yours I think I will, just as I hand the keys over to the service manager take some photos with my iphone in his presence of the panels and interior so he knows I have taken a record immediately prior to handing over....and he will know I will be holding them accountable.

I have a good friend who is a car lover. He averages only about 5000K per year each time he buys a merc with it spending most of its time in the garage getting buffed, chamoised and just admired. Anyway, he worries so much about his (Sunday drives) car when he takes it in for a service he will not leave it in the dealers service yard whilst waiting it's turn for a service. The deal is his car is to immediately be taken into the service bay to limit the risk of another car (for example) having a door or something opened into his car. He knows no one will admit to the dents in his door so he is very particular.

He waits for services not wanting to leave his car unattended. One day whilst in the process of handing his Mercedes over for a service he was momentarily away from the vehicle with the service manager when a loud bang occurred only to turn around to find a truck had driven past and destroyed the entire front end of the Merc. Truck driver could not give a stuff as was simply an employee driver in a company vehicle. All covered by truck companies insurance but the Mercedes was never the same. This friend has only just recently taken possession of another brand new Merc. Just shows that even when you take every possible caution it can all go wrong.

Why would a dealer care? Profit is the motive.
John
This is exactly my concern John. It's all beer and skittles until you're sitting on the side of the road / track / middle of nowhere... waiting for the tilt tray. I'll go to Jeep Wanneroo. At least they care enough to use an oil meeting manufacturer's spec.

As for clogging this thread, I think that happened many many posts ago. It's the general Aussie chat thread now... anything goes.

Cheers,
Steve

Just make sure your dealer doesn't leave big black boot prints like John Hughes Service centre did in my Overland

Life is too short to worry like that. I like my cars too, but at the end of the day, I want to enjoy them. Scratches and dents can all be fixed. Some of the enjoyment in owning a nice car for me is getting my hands dirty and working on them. If this means a bit of a buff so be it.
I remember when my wife accidentally scratched her last car. She was so paranoid that I would be pissed she didn't tell me for a week. I knew something was wrong because she kept avoiding me.... in the end when I found out, I shrugged my shoulders and said to her, "you do realise that it's only a car"

All this talk about service, Ferrari offer 7yrs complimentary service on new vehicles, and have done for a few years now. Makes buying one a little more attractive. ...

That's better than the paint chip I "allegedly" received from JH right in the middle of the tailgate. I noticed it as soon as I got home and drove straight back there. They denied it had anything to do with them. I likewise couldn't prove it but lest just say it wasn't in a spot where it could have been picked up in a car park and in any event I thoroughly cleaned the car two days before dropping it off to JH, the chip wasn't there (and it is very noticeable) then and I didn't drive the car during those two days before dropping it off to JH.

Btw that young blondish hair "customer service" dude is a rude, ignorant ****er. The service manager seems ok but other dude should not be doing customer service,

I watched the service tech do this to mine when I took it back.

Reset Oil: Vehicles with diesel engines (export models):

1. Cycle the ignition to the "ON/RUN" position (Do not start the engine).
2. Fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it fully depressed for at least 30 seconds.
3. Press and release the brake pedal six times while holding the accelerator pedal pressed.
4. Perform one ignition OFF-ON cycle, start the engine and verify that the reminder has been reset

If still warning oil change due then repeat.
That didn't work but this did.
