Yep, cricks MtGravatt. They have been good to deal with so far. Not sure about servicing there....

I think my dealer use HAVOLINE FULLY SYNTHETIC C3 5W-30 as the windscreen has the sticker.

Look up caltex website and it's suitable for my14 2023 JGC turbo diesel. Has anyone used it?

I think mine is using Castrol Edge 5W-30 (as an aside - My DPF issue came about prior to its first oil change).
From the Castrol (Aust) website it says it's compatible for MY14 JGC 3.0L Diesels when you work through their online oil selection charts.
"CASTROL EDGE 5W-30 is suitable for use in automotive petrol and diesel engines where the manufacturer recommends an ACEA C3 5W-30 lubricant. Castrol EDGE 5W-30 is approved for use in VW Group vehicles that require a VW 504 00 / 507 00 5W-30 lubricant including diesel vehicles equipped with a diesel particulate filter. Castrol EDGE 5W-30 also fulfils the requirements of former VW 503 01 specification."

Be Careful with that. The issue here is that the Castrol Edge website says that it is a A3/B4 oil, not C3. The dealers that I have spoken to that use Castrol use Castrol OEX professional that is C3 compliant. A3/B4 is not low SAPS and that will mean that you will clog your DPF more quickly and reduce it's life. Maybe they have upgraded the product and are in the process of updating their web site information. Either we, be careful, the oil for the CRD's must be C3. I would get it in writing from Castrol that it is definitely C3.

Interesting thing is Swampy, the table for Performance Standards states it is C3. I read the same thing as you a few days ago, and think you're probably right that there is an information transition. But which way?

The Sulphated Ash data looks OK though... and the viscosity at 100 degrees is also quite respectable.

Another that hasn't been mentioned (recently) is Liqui-Moly 4200 and 4600. I was close to buying this to avoid paying the "$24 dollars per litre" for "up to ten litres of oil depending on what it takes on the day" for Castrol Professional OE-X at Ozzy Park. My girlfriend decided that they can have their gouge on consumables... as I was getting obsessive with oil research and forgetting to eat and sleep

Why the hell Cheap Australia don't bring in oil which is compliant with their own specifications is a total mystery to me.

Cheers,
Steve

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Interesting, the Castrol Edge 5W30 listed through the lubricant selection function is obviously a different oil than the Edge 5W30 listed under their products. The one under products is only A3/B4 and includes a specific exclusion for diesels with participate filters, the packaging colours are different. The Magnetic oil they list on the lubricant guide appears the same in the product list.

The Castrol Edge website lists neither of the edge products which come up on the lubricant selector. The lubricant selector had previously listed the Professional product.

We stopped using Castrol Edge in our Peugeot diesels a while ago as it was no longer suitable for participate filters (a local service agent has gone to Nulon).

I suspect this is now going to see confusion and "ordinary" edge used in JGCs? Given the potential DPF problems it will be important ta make sure the oil used is suitable and is C3 rated.

The low ash diesel oils are really expensive to make as they have to be made to a lot higher specifications then regular performance oils on the market. We have been using these types of oils in the race engines for a long time now and they just seem to handle it better.

Thanks Swampy. From the Castrol website it states: MEETS OR EXCEEDS INDUSTRY SPECIFICATIONS SAE 5W-30, ACEA C3, VW 504 00/ 507 00, BMW Longlife-04, MB-Approval 229.31/ 229.51, Porsche C30. Fulfils the requirements of the former VW 503 01 specification. When you look for oils that match VW 507 00 or MB 229.31 I am confident this oil is ok and particularly designed as a low ash DPF oil. The ACEA standard is also the Euro Standard which is probably not a bad thing to go by given it it is a EURO engine originally. C3 is designed for cars with a DPF. As an aside, It was also the dealer that supplied this oil in its first oils change. Importantly it is the Professional OEX Edge range they are using. Off the shelf I am not so sure. Cheers Andrew

Hi Twscoot

Where are you seeing that, other than the popup under the Netlube reference guide?

I'm looking at

Our strongest ever Castrol EDGE range of oils | Castrol EDGE Australia

Under the 5W-30 tab.

OEX professional definately meets C3, but the run of the mill Edge 5W-30 on the Edge web site doesn't appear to.

I must be missing something. If Castrol can confirm C3 compliance than that is great. Likely still won't have the Chrysler MS-11106 compliance though.

I would still get it in writing from Castrol that Castrol Edge 5W-30 is C3 compliant if you are doing your own oil changes or supplying oil to the dealer.

Below is the pop up from the Netlube Recommendation Guide and the verbage does not match what is on the Edge site.
