Having dealt with a voluntary recall a year or so ago, I can tell you they don't mess around with those. If the Govt found out about the delay in you getting contacted, they would be up CJA ass very quickly.

Actually I got one months ago, just after it was announced. Got another one on Friday. Guess they stuffed up and missed people so decided to resend to everybody.

Went through the mail, we got one too. It was dated February 2014. Took almost a month to get to us. Must have been on the parts boat from the USA.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Huge thread, so one more should not matter....
Anyone know the procedure for updating the Nav Maps?
The new Jeep Limited 3.6L is on order however the dealer was a little unsure when I asked about how we update the maps and cost.
Anyone been through the process yet?

Mark

Great dealer.
Maps are produced twice a year. A manufacturer can choose to purchase them or not. It seems Jeep US buy them once a year, Jeep Aus buy them about every 518 years. Cost, undefined, it has never happened for the GC, but expect a few hundred dollars.
Actually that is wrong, with inflation, in 518 years time it will be a few million dollars.

Read from this point in the Nav thread ti understand what has gone on so far - Jeep Navigation System Fail

I asked my dealer the same Qs about Nav Map. To be fair for dealers, at least my dealer who followed up the Qs with Jeep AUS who advised him that 'not sure about timing of release, neither cost'.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

I owned a Roadhouse in the bush for six years and I can tell you I saw a lot of vehicles that had "shoo roos" fitted and were banged up. After a while I thought that they actually attracted the animal. Perhaps they just scared them out of the bush and onto the road !!

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

DPF Message.
I decided to post this for those of you who have yet to experience the DPF regeneration.
At 12630 Km's and on my way to visit a friend yesterday and I got a message on my screen telling me the Exhaust Filter was 80% full and it was regenerating, my vehicle was performing normally, by the time I got to my friends place it was reading 70%, after an hour I got back into the GC and it started ok and continued counting down on the regeneration process on 10% increments. 60% - 50% - 40% etc etc.
After 15 minutes it reached 0% and all I had to do was press the OK Button on the steering wheel.
My speed during this time was between 60 to 70kph (apart from the stop)and the process of regeneration had no affect on the GC whatsoever, so from this I now know how the DPF regeneration is supposed to work, in this case perfectly with absolutely no inconvenience...
My thoughts go out to those of you who are experiencing the 'Limp Mode' fiasco and that a solution to this will be found quickly.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

GForce, seems like yours worked as intended. However, and I don't want to sound like a gloom merchant, bear in mind there have been others that have had their regeneration work as intended, only to have the limp mode issue a few thousand Ks (or hundreds in one case) down the track. I'm still of the view that those that haven't experienced a regen yet are biding their time.

I agree that a fix should be available soon. I for one, am looking forward to the new DPF assembly being fitted to mine - 4 weeks to go!

I think you may have a very valid point here, my thoughts exactly. My 'Truckie mate' does a Bris to Melb run each week and he doesn't believe in them as well.
Maybe if the Roo is already on the road it would work but possibly the one's in the grass or out of sight may get startled by it?
I don't think there is a solution to the problem apart from being alert and being very careful around Dawn and Dusk if you are driving at those times.
As to a Bar I also wonder if they would be of much help in a serious hit, take a look at my new Nissan Patrol after it was hit by an airborne Ford Falcon that came off a Car Trailer.
