Thanks for the tips Beggsy, I'll have another look tomorrow. I'd take it to the dealership... but... you know...

Maybe the tool left his tool under the bonnet also. Sorry, I can't tolerate incompetent tradies. I must have spent too long trying to be a competent one. Wife found a P plate in her car.... only thing we can think of is that the mechanic working on ours was on his P's. .... and that P's me off that a junior is the one doing the test drives.

Better than an "E" plate I guess!

It's just comedy to me. I could easily get annoyed, but I know that no one will give a damn... so I'll just "pity the fools" instead. It would be different however, if I'd had a mild engine fire and wasn't offered a replacement vehicle. Do you reckon they'd do that?

Me? Ahhh... no. Not without legal stoush anyway.

Cheers,
Steve

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Have asked this question before with no real positive outcomes.

I have searched this Aussie thread and the main JG thread.

I have an ICOM IC-440 UHF/CB radio to fit to the Big Red Fire Truck.

The Base Unit is small enough to fit under the passengers set. Will make a cradle for it to be able to be pulled out for any reason.

The handset has the speakers and all controls in it so not a problem for handset location.

Two questions.

* Power source. Does it come from the battery (under drivers seat) or from fuse box terminals?

* Aerial. No bullbar so mounted in tradional spot on left guard. Not much meat on that guard to mount. Hope no airbags or other critical appliances in that region.

Any suggestions for the above 2 questions appreciated.

Bluey

I pointed out that I needed this information immediately as we are going away in 4 weeks. I assume they will send through the information 1st thing tomorrow morning as this is now a matter of urgency for us. If the radar doesn't work they need to return our car in original condition, with the bumper bar...which they will presumably need to order from Jeep...groan.
I think. ECB need to change there name to East Coast Bull$h!tBar... What crap service. I can gather I will never get a reply. Now to plan my next move..

I was thinking of fitting a uhf cb at some stage. I figured that I would just go with a through glass inductive type antenna. Won't have prefect range but would be better than our current hand held.

Bluey, You could come from the battery providing you use an inline fuse, except it is much better to tap off from the accessories line so it turns off with the keys. As for the mount I am sure they have a clip mount that fits under the edge of the bonnet, so no drilling required. I am sure others can confirm..

Awesome. Please don't work on my car again thanks.
I would send that picture to the dealer.

Everyone will have a different angle on this, but I've always preferred to run UHF off the battery direct (fused of course). They use bugger all power on receive and forgetting it for a night (or a few) should not be a drama. The Cheep's whiny nagging reminder tones could be further reason if you need to stay on air when stationary for a while.

Bonnet clamp brackets might appeal to you Bluey...

http://www.mobileone.com.au/antennas/7b_mounts.html

... as might the number plate driving light mounting bars...

http://www.bushranger.com.au/x_bar.php

The latter would only handle a light whip and you wouldn't want a B&S special hanging off the first one either. I'd also suggest a ground independent antenna, or a ground plane adaptor on the base.

Cheers,
Steve

This is where we need to be careful. Our normal running tyres are 265/65R18 so the spare is slightly smaller in diameter. So if you buy a full set of 5 tyres, you may want to check your new spare will fit.

It doesn't matter - got the original repaired and put back on, but just a heads-up. No sensor on the spare so until you get the original back in place (or equivalent), the EVIC will continually report a pressure issue (or lack thereof) with the spare.
Good tip, thanks for that

I thought 245 seemed different...
