Awesome. Please don't work on my car again thanks.

Back to the noise, it actually could be a staccato brake or bush groan. I'll have to hit it again when I have a helper. Any clues in the interim?

Cheers,
Steve
So your car DOES run on the smell of an oily rag huh?

Jokes aside, the Service Manager and I chatted for almost half an hour, and he didn't seem to be just paying lip service to the issues I raised in the service survey I supplied.

For "the team", I reaffirmed more than once the sentiment of many of us here expect better, especially with regard to information flow. I warned of the dangers of the average punter walking in knowing more than the Service Advisor. Last fortnight's oil circus was used as an example, as was the recent TSB 18-018-14 where I was told my VIN was not in range.

I'll post in the DPF thread about comments regarding that issue.
Cheers,
Steve

Actually I think I used the wrong dimension descriptor, the height will be the same (18 inch), but the width is less by 20 mm. So when you lay it in the recess area, you need to be careful in your height so the floor will lay flat.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Bullbar update...

I love google! I was able to find the CEO of ECB and successfully email him. His manager contacted us and offered 3 options. 2 did not service our needs. We went for option 3: remove the bullbar. The car should be returned in its original state, ie: with a bumper bar. We dont have time to wait for one so we have instructed our installers to go ahead with the ARB (by the way, I emailed ARB at night and they phoned 1st thing in the morning). I have my fingers crossed that the ARB bar does not need part of the bumper that has been discarded...noooooo.....

I am grateful that the CEO stepped in to manage this issue as we were getting nowhere with the sales manager...

TJM Coburg have been brilliant all the way through. As soon as they identified a problem they phoned and explained. They did not try to cover up. They did not give us the car and wait for us to find the problem. They did not suggest we compromise and put up with a less than effective radar. They did not complain about the time they have lost on a non paying job.

They did work with Jeep and ECB to try and solve the problem. They did keep us informed with up to 3 phone calls every day. They did sympathise with our situation. Maybe they could shut up shop and set up a customer service training company. I am sure forum members could send a few Jeep reps their way!

A big thankyou to all the forum members who pmed me with information. I was able to put it to very good use. If you are in the market for 4wd supplies and you live in Melbourne it would be wonderful to support TJM Coburg and while you are there you might get a glimpse of our car which they will end up having in their garage for 3 weeks because ECB dilly dallied and denied a design flaw.

Excellent news Buster. I hope that when you get away in April (end of April is it?) you have a trouble-free trip.

Keep us posted on where you go and how the Jeep travels.

You have no idea how nervous i have been about problems on the road with this car...didnt really expect it to start before we leave! Anyway, i am going to think positively and picture the car performing brilliantly all the way around Oz! Will post a pic of the Overland with a colour coded ARB bar when i can

I love this site which is evident with my postings etc BUT there must be so many MY14 drivers out there ignorantly and blissfully enjoying their cars whilst us members are driving around anxiously waiting for all hell to break loose. My car has been excellent and yet, why should I be hesitant to take it on a long journey to Agnes Water. I really think I should fly up to avoid the risk of driving home in limp mode. One sometimes asks oneself would they be better off not knowing about JeepGarage?
ps....that won't happen because once you discover this site you are "hooked".

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

We'll we have been in Adelaide since the 21st and seen a few GC's running around. We have a brand new SV6 Commodore to run around in (91km on the clock when we started) and I am in favour of the electronic handbrake switch. When we get home next week I will be on the phone checking up to see if I need to get the car in for the 18-018-14 TSB update for the PCM. We have a few camping trips coming up including the Gibb river road, and I don't want to do any of it in limp mode.

Mine does this, completely normal.
