Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Went to the Berwick VIC dealer today to address the cruise control not setting issue as mentioned by the TSB http://www.wk2jeeps.com/tsb/tsb_wk2_1801914.pdf

They completed the software update and now cruise control works perfectly.

Our separate issue where the stability light coming up randomly and the reversing camera doesn't show the grid lines was diagnosed as a "steering angle sensor to be at fault". They've ordered a replacement and will get it replaced next week.

This actually makes a lot of sense since the stability control depends on the steering angle to ensure the car is travelling in the direction of steering, and the reverse camera lines require the steering angle to illustrate how the car will turn.

Thanks to Chief Products, I now have a safer option for a bash plate. Better than the carpet option from Jeep. This now completes my Off-Road Adventure Pack.

I have had this problem for the last 6 months and have still not found a fix for it.
Been back to the dealer 2 times and they have no idea.
Let me know if you find a fix.

Those plates look great and strong! I reckon you could cook snags on them if you had to.

Seeing as this is the everything thread.....

Had our 6mth service today
Cost $605
Oil: Castrol professional edge LL03 - service guy said they used to import it. Wasn't sure if they still do or available locally.
Had updates;
RRT 04-014 Something to do with the diff
RRT 14-023 Uconnect

They also picked up a fault with the rear doors catching the front doors when slightly open. Said it needs to go to their panel shop for adjustment. I looked and the rear door catches the front door on one of the profile lines. Im guessing this may have been an issue before as they found it, so must have been looking for it.

Quizzed him about the DPF, and he said, some problems, but only about 2% of CRD's that have come in. Mainly due to city driving habbits.

hmmm, they sell over 1,000 a month, so 20 a month!

Or is that 2% of cars that come in with problems, might just mean there are heaps of other problems....

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

ACEA C3 is the essential spec based on what most dealers use. The Chrysler MS-11106 (?) is the spec only Mobil1 meets... or is it has paid for? Then there's the Fiat spec mentioned... groan...

So the oil seems OK based on the ACEA C3 compliance, but I've been looking specifically at the Sulphated Ash figures out of interest. This is effectively what builds up in the DPF and the figures do vary a bit among C3 oils.

Interestingly the pdf doesn't refer Sulphated Ash data. Odd given that it appears to be from Europe where thought they'd be all over it.

Cheers,
Steve
