E numbers are allocated when an Order has been placed.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

that vehicle was ordered 18 Jan. I paid my deposit to dealer on 31 Jan but of course we have no idea when he passed it onto Jeep Aust or when they actually placed the order.

I think I see the flaw in this ordering system.

It may not be a flaw, if they allocate an E number they lock themselves in, if no one has an E number then the vehicle is any ones.

Mine was ordered (deposit paid) on 23 Jan and the dealer confirmed that the order was with Jeep Australia on 7 Feb.

I will chase up an E number again and see where I get.

Does anyone know whether WA vehicles are shipped directly to Fremantle? I expect they would have to be, given the distances.

Yes, into Fremantle, then to Prix car near the airport for compliance, then to your dealer to fit accessories (if any), then to you. Usually takes 1-2 weeks from when the ship hits Fremantle.

If I'm going to spend 60K on a JGC, I think it's also important to contribute a little so to have access to all of the positive peer help found here. The content and information found here is amazing. Becoming a financial contributor only helps to keep this forum open. Milous, you seem to know to a lot about Jeeps. Perhaps conceived in one?

BTW, with the current delays experienced with the MY14, is too early to talk about the MY15 yet?

I guess that raises another question - I wonder how often shipments are sent to WA - undoubtedly less frequently than the Eastern States. Probably means a longer wait for those of us in the West.

I don't know if I can handle these emotional highs and lows for another 6 months!!

The question of luxury pack always amazes me. The MY13 luxury option on a Limited in Australia is SAT NAV, power lift gate and heated steering wheel. I am pretty sure the MY14 Limited comes standard with Sat NAV, maybe even power lift gate. Based on our weather, heated steering wheel will never be used. So what is the luxury option on the MY14? Maybe Milous can help provide some feedback. Dealers have been pretty useless and not willing to share anything.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

I have the heated steering wheel and the aircon/heated seats.
Love both. You may not need the heated steering wheel in the northern states, but even in Sydney, on a couple of very cold winter mornings, that heated steering wheel has been a godsend.

Last year, we saw ships arriving in Australia loaded with Jeeps around every 10 days. Probably 8 out of 10 of those docked in Fremantle.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

I pretty sure that most of the ships do a round trip of Australia (East and Southern coasts) then Fremantle and off some place else. They certainly don't just carry Jeeps.
