5 months in with our rural horsey life (read dirty), and the beige is all good. Easy to keep clean. The leather is plastic coated, so you only need to wipe with water, and don't bother conditioning.

Thanks Salmo.

I think I'll pay someone if they can make it glow like yours does. Did the detailer clean and condition your leather? Are you happy with the result?
Very happy with the result Gr8ness. He did inside and out but spent more time on the exterior. So many nooks and crannies especially around the liftgate when its opened. Places that I generally miss. The interior wasn't in need of a great deal of work. I use Zaino's leather cleaner and conditioner for that myself.

He did a phenomenal job on the interior of WK though. The cargo area where we load the Otto bins into was disgusting but he deep cleaned all the stains away. I never thought they would come out. Very surprised at just how well it came up.

Well worth the money ($500 total for both vehicles). I'll get him back again in about 4 months time.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Plenty of info here on the diesel engines but not much to say about the petrol versions, one thing I would like to see is real fuel consumption figures, I have given up on the diesel Overland due to problems previously mentioned but may reconsider the petrol version, plenty of time to decide as I cant buy before November anyway..

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

I'd be more nervous about the petrol problems than the diesel problems. Heard of gearboxes going, and the cracked head issue. The diesel issues look to be pretty much sorted. The problem will be that the MY15 will have changes (as the MY14 did) so there may be new and interesting gremlins to be sorted....

The ECB would be fine, except that we have the radar for adaptive cruise control and forward collision warning. The ECB bullbar stopped it from working. They suggested we just compromise and have a warning system that doesn't always work...good for them; useless for us!

You are quite right. I only have the Limited and the parking sensors seem to work ok, but if I had the Overland I too would want everything working as it should do.

thanks

Had the same issue just after getting our GC. Have not heard it since leaving NSW just after buying it. Done 14000kms with not a sound. If my memory serves me correct I only heard it while driving at higher altitude through the Snowy mountains.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

I have a ECB fitted to my Overland with no issues for over 15,000km. Sad to hear of many others with problems. Great bar and looks the part, with no noticeable weight over the front end. I would recommend the bar

Wish I had've heard from you sooner! I tried to find an installer who had successfully done it. Where did you get it fitted?

Hi Undies

Two questions, please

1)Does this mean that your ACC radar is working just as it should after fitting the ECB? and

2) Do you know the weight of the ECB bar .... I can't find that data on their website?

Thanks

Tahlee

I have had two wk2 diesels, now have a 3.6 petrol Overland. I simply could not trust the diesel after the problems I encountered with the diesel. The gear box in the 3.6 is also a German designed ZF , as is the Diesel version, both 8 speed, and used in many European vehicles including BMW and MB. I recently towed 2.7 ton some 600km. the motor and gearbox worked flawlessly...I was VERY impressed.
Yes, the diesel has more torque, but the 3.6 has more Kw. Look at the acceleration times....very close. The 3.6 is so deliciously quiet. It uses about 25% more fuel, but I have reliability on my side ! No 3.6 head problems I can find, in a very long time.
Another interesting point. Motor oil temp, in the diesel runs around 100, the petrol runs around 90 in the same circumstances. Thus the torque converter is working in a cooler environment. Has anyone had a 3.6 go into limp mode ??
Cheers Barry

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Tahlee,

The bar was fitted in Perth.
All functions work as they did prior to the bar being fitted, including the radar.
I dont know the weight of the bar and streering didnt feel any differant before or after.
Only my opinion, others might not agree.

good luck
