Judging from the angle of tyre, it's definitely more than a bit. The tyre was just held by the kerb.

That's a fair impact, ripped the whole suspension out of the left side. Curious about the damaged bonnet, considering the cars he struck where smaller vehicles . Looks like he hit one after he tore the front suspension out of it and dropped its nose.

I saw the news that the tow truck driver drove the car away from the kerb and over to the tow truck.

Hey must have been an automotive engineer, as he'd determined that a functional cooling system isn't necessary for correct operation.

Cheers,
Steve

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Perhaps most of you will remember my post re my Limited CRD (just 8 months old) and the major motor failure on 3rd Feb. Well, here it is, almost 3 months later and the car is still with the dealer WAITING ON PARTS.!!!! As mentioned earlier, I traded the CRD on a petrol Overland, and have been very surprised how much I underrated the petrol. It is really GREAT.
I spoke to our service manager last Friday, and asked how many petrols come in in limp mode. NEVER. The diesels keep appearing. I was surprised to learn, almost 40% of local JGC sales are petrol.
On another theme, the NRMA publication "Caravan + RV" is currently doing a long term evaluation of the JGC CRD. In the issue before last, #39, they had the usual overheating towing a single axel Millard (under 2 ton). Their conclusion was, you can either tow a van in the summer OR have the air con on, you cannot have both. Otherwise they loved the Jeep. They are investigating additional cooling systems.
This month, #40, the drive turned bad when the dash lit up for a the usual filter burn off, then, at the same moment "the electronic throttle threw its toys out of the pram" They managed to limp 10km home , then truck the Jeep to the dealer. 3000 km since then, no problems.
It has taken Jeep 3 years to fix noisy SLS shocks, how long will the current problems take ?
And finally, back to Mopar and parts. We totalled a windscreen when the car was 1 week old, 6 weeks quoted to get a new screen. We are still waiting. There have been earlier posts with the same delay. A current vehicle, a not even a windscreen in stock. Un bloody believeable.

In relation to the overheating, did the vehicle actually overheat or did the needle go up towards the red?

Reason being is I regularly tow a 2tonne caravan up and down Kangaroo Valley NSW, if your not familiar with it, it is very steep.
I always push hard through there and whilst the temperature guage does go up it doesn't go into the red or overheat.
Travelled in 42 degree heat pulling the van with the A/C and had no problems.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Here is something to think about...

My 'other' Nissan Patrol mate has been researching the use of two stroke oil in the diesel fuel.
Sounds crazy but there my be some truth in it.
Below is from the Internet discussions:

Seems Castrol 2T motorcycle non synthetic oil or Penrite is the go because of it's clean burning properties.

Comments from forums:

I work for a large oil company and speaking to my bosses, they have informed me that the new Ultra Low Sulphur Diesel is crap, with out going into the specs of it all. It has been designed to met the new European Emissions Standards by reducing the sulphur content which gives it lubrication properties. It has been reduced from above 8% to below 5-4% and now it is getting pushed to below 2% in the near future. Just wondering if this is a reason the the Australian Armed Forces especially the Navy wont use standard diesel? they have their own "special diesel" or is it something else entirely.

For those who are interested I have just done 1100kms with 2 stroke oil in my Landcruiser 4.2D and I got a 30km increase in range, quieter engine, smoother acceleration and far less smoke. Its a go'er I reckon!

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Forgot to mention that my 'Truckie mate' has been at me about this for some time, he says that due to the low lubrication quality of the new diesel fuel he and his mates in the industry add a cup full of 30 w oil to each tank on the truck, but two stroke oil makes more sense as it is designed to burn up.
I even found a comment on the Web that the addition of some two stroke oil to the fuel at a ratio of 300:1 helps with the problem with the DPF.
Definitely think some more research is needed here, anyone heard of this before?

Go with the CRD you wont be disappointed, all brands of vehicles have their problems from time to time. I love my Limited, it is one impressive vehicle, remember they are selling thousands of these new GC's that are running as they should.
I took out some extra insurance by taking the extended Warranty, be surprised if I will need it.
So far 14,000 km with no major issues and a total average fuel consumption of 7.5 L per 100. Best on a trip is 6.8, damm good hey...

Well, thanks a lot Buddy! Wheels fall off Jesinta Campbell’s deal after Franklin’s car crash | News.com.au

His wheel is still attached, but the axle is broken, not surprised as it took some serious hits.
