Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

I would like to mention at this point that the drawer and fridge slide was not my idea. A fellow Jeep Garage member Peter.T showed me pics of what he had done and I made mine slightly different to suit my requirements. Thanks Peter.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

The only thing that I'm not comfortable with is the use of the OEM tie down points. They are weak as piss and wouldn't hold the fridge in a mid-range accident... even when empty.

Using the spare wheel attachment point is better, however to be truly safe I believe that there is no alternative than to drill the sub-floor and probably plate underneath.

Cheers,
Steve

I was wanting the Electronic Park brake, but they said not until next year. I am glad I have my car now and did not wait for the MY15

fully agree, the tie down points are secured only by small self tapper screws. I am worried securing a 11kg pram using the tie down points as the whole thing including the spare wheel cover could come off during an accident.

Sorry to bad mouth Jeep but I am totally disappointed.

My brand new Grand Cherokee 2014 has now been in the panel shop for over 5 months waiting for new body parts. Jeep Australia has been useless in helping to get the right new parts from the USA but has found second had parts for me from a wrecker.

January 3rd 2014 my 8 week old Grand Cherokee was hit on the roof by falling tree. At earliest, it will be 6 months before it is back on the road.
Do not believe Jeep sales staff because I was concerns about the availability of parts before I bought it and was assured that there are plenty of parts in Australia. NOT SO.

My ensurer AAMI has also been completely useless and unhelpful and provided no car for the entire 5 months to date. Damage cost will be around $22,000.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Man that's awful... I've been wondering how you were getting on. I'll be checking the repair time allowance on our insurance... if there is one. I've got to say I've heard more bad stories about AAMI than good ones, and this one takes the cake.

Do you get the impression that maybe Jeep don't want to bring the roof parts in and are expecting that the car should be written off?

Anecdotally, we had a small split in the leather dash cover where the instrument binnacle is stitched on. I had it noted, as it did seem to be very slowly increasing... and was surprised to hear that they're going to replace the dash pad now rather than waiting. Quietly, I'm shit scared it's going to come back with other things wrong! Oh... my point is that this is also a very large and fragile part, but there didn't seem to be any hesitation to ship it in.

I hope there's some positive progress in your dilemma "real soon now".

Cheers,
Steve

Thumbs up Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Hello Everyone,

Just wanted to say Hello and thank everyone for the wealth of information on this thread. In no particular order, special thanks to Snuke, Webber, Captain and auscop . I put a deposit in for MY14 Limited White, CRD with some extras for 62K in Melbourne. First time Jeep Owner and never had any real 4wd experiences.

Read through almost 300 pages of stuff over a day and initially was worried about the DPF issues but the last 100 or so pages didnt have any so am slightly relieved about it. Will still be cautious about it.

Cheers,
R4L.

AAMI's Ronda-Katu ads being voted the best in 2012. Maybe they shall change business.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

I would think that waiting over 5 months for parts is not on.
I would suggest a call to your Dept of Fair Trading.
