FYI if you go to - Jeep Garage - Jeep Forum you change yourr settings to show 50 posts per page. It makes reading a lot of posts far easier and quicker.
Thanks Snuke. Changed the view and now I am not scared of reading the forum anymore.

On a different matter, i am not going to be doing any heavy off roading yet may be a couple of years down the line I might venture into it.. does anyone think its better if I order the ORAII parts and get the dealer to fit it before I take the delivery of the jeep or do it at a later stage?

The main reason for going with ORAII on the limited is you get the ELSD (locking) rear diff. You can't add that later. You also have to get the QL air suspension, can't add that later either (not easily anyway).

However, from what I've seen the Quadra-TracII system without rear locking diff is fairly effective. Having said that, if it were me, and I have the spare $5k or so, I'd option the ORAII and QL.

I am reluctant to get a dealer to install an oil filter.
For them to install a suspension would be a huge risk. I doubt if they have the skillset.

Do you get the impression that maybe Jeep don't want to bring the roof parts in and are expecting that the car should be written off?

Anecdotally, we had a small split in the leather dash cover where the instrument binnacle is stitched on. I had it noted, as it did seem to be very slowly increasing... and was surprised to hear that they're going to replace the dash pad now rather than waiting. Quietly, I'm shit scared it's going to come back with other things wrong! Oh... my point is that this is also a very large and fragile part, but there didn't seem to be any hesitation to ship it in.

I hope there's some positive progress in your dilemma "real soon now".

Cheers,
Steve
Steve,
I think we need some positive thoughts. So, we are sure your dash is going to be a perfect replacement.

Trouble is, I am the meat in the Sandwich. There is no time limit on repair. Could take years. AAMI says they will not write it off because all the repairers want the work and say they can repair anything and Jeep won't admit that they cannot supply parts.
Cheers
Jeepski

If it's driveable I'd get it back from the repairer... then immediately have another accident. And a really very bad one...

Sorry to bad mouth Jeep but I am totally disappointed.

My brand new Grand Cherokee 2014 has now been in the panel shop for over 5 months waiting for new body parts. Jeep Australia has been useless in helping to get the right new parts from the USA but has found second had parts for me from a wrecker.

January 3rd 2014 my 8 week old Grand Cherokee was hit on the roof by falling tree. At earliest, it will be 6 months before it is back on the road.
Do not believe Jeep sales staff because I was concerns about the availability of parts before I bought it and was assured that there are plenty of parts in Australia. NOT SO.

My ensurer AAMI has also been completely useless and unhelpful and provided no car for the entire 5 months to date. Damage cost will be around $22,000.
This is just shameful.
Have you done anything with the ACCC ?
I would think that AAMI is liable to provide you with a suitable solution, by either a comparable Rental SUV, and if it was going to take any longer than 8 weeks and they should write it off and deal with Jeep AU themselves.

You should be in a new car by now.

May be the Insurance Ombudsman should also be contacted as AAMI have made their problem your severe inconvenience and problem.

Can't wait to trade in GC for Wagoneer. Where does Renegade stand compared to GC?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Jeep service strikes again.

While waiting for a part to arrive, another fault was discovered and another part had to be ordered. When they rang to say the first part was there, I asked about the second part and they knew nothing about it. Seems that they gave me back the original paperwork and it never entered their system to order the part so I decided to wait for both parts to save a trip. When the second part arrived the car was booked in and the service centre was asked twice how long they needed the vehicle for and both times they said most of the day.

After battling the city traffic for an hour to get there this morning, when we arrived they said they needed the car for 2-3 days as one part required painting - no one bothered to tell me beforehand. So now I have to take the vehicle back in another couple of weeks to get that work done.

Luckily they are both relatively minor issues that don't affect the operation of the car but it is nevertheless annoying and inconvenient and typical of what I have come to expect from Jeep.

Great post R4L. There are so many that have contributed in one way or another which has helped us all make our purchase decisions as well as advice on problems, issues, tips etc. It's a great forum supported by passionate people. I can't say there are too many other vehicle forums as well informed as Jeep Garage. For crying out loud, we knew when the first ship load of MY14 arrived in Australia and watched them being driven off the ships at all odd hours!!!

Kind of funny though - but in a good way!

Thank you for your coments.

AAMI believe they have no fault here, no responsibility and no time limit for repair. As long as Jeep say they can supply parts some day in the future and the panel shop says they can fix it some how, I have to wait. AAMI has a no care not my fault attitude. I wrote to the Insurance Ombudsman last night. Jeep is now trying to get parts down from a wrecker in Qld.

A new concern is the panel shop says Jeep will not provide them with drawings or dimensions as other manufacturers do. They said they will have to go to the car yard to measure other jeeps door measurements to make sure it is all true prior to welding. I think Jeep really do no intend to have roofs repaired.

Thank you
Jeepski

I think ENFORCER is correct. The Insurance Ombudsman is the correct initial course of action.
