Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

Although chains may not be compulsory for 4WD's, if you have no experience in driving in snow, I recommend you carry them, and also know how to fit them. Practice at home before having to fit them. Snow in Australia can be very moisture laden, and therefore turn to ice easily with a little compression, such as a snowplough interaction.
I can attest that driving on ice is not a fun activity, and can lead to severe damage very easily.
Chains for the 20" wheels will also be a challenge due to the limited clearance.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

I'll probably rent a chain when getting there. Mine has 18 inch wheel with QL, so clearance won't be a problem. Icy snow is indeed a challenge as I never drive in snow before. Hope Jeep won't let me down. Some drivers on google reported that their fuel line frozen up even using alpine diesel. Looks like it is not full-prove.

I thought now you are required to have chains in your 4wd regardless if it is a 4wd or not?

Yep, the last time I took my JGC WJ Limited to the snow (Dinner Plain / Hotham) I didn't have to actually fit the chains, had I was required to carry them.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

I drove by the Nunawading (Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne) Jeep Dealership last night and there was a huge poster in their window.

"JEEP DEALER OF THE YEAR 2013"

Really?

After reading quite a few Dealership Disaster stories here I'm now keen to ask them "What makes them the Jeep Dealer of the year, compared to other Jeep Dealers?".

I believe the Product is very good; however after reading quite a few posts here it appears that the Customer Service has a lot to be desired.

Not quite ready to go in there and talk business just yet, but I will in a few months. The members of Jeep Garage certainly have armed me with plenty of info about what to expect and what to look out for when making a purchase. Thankyou

Oh, and they had a beautiful White SRT with Pano Roof in there too. Boy did it sparkle under them bright LED showroom lights. And I swear I could hear it whisper, ...."Buy me, take me home, get me outta here...."

Sounds a bit redundant, doesn't it? You HAVE to carry them, but don't HAVE to fit them.... I think Hotham requires you to carry chains no matter what type of vehicle, and they have to be diamond, not ladder.

Kosciuszko NP only requires 2WD vehicles to carry chains. Personally I try to avoid fitting chains at all costs, particularly on bitumen. I'd hate to see the damage a loose one would do to the wheel well of a GC.

My experience with Nunawading is the reason neither of my Jeeps will ever enter a service department again. I have caught them out a number of times blatantly lying, and everytime they have done any work on the GC it has had to go back for rectification. The Wrangler is serviced solely by me and has been fualtless over the last two years.

Cheers

The question is what is the criteria set by JA for this insider achievement.

Is it customer service and satisfaction If so how many owners fail to respond or even raise issues of customer service?
Is it how low is their warranty claim forms
Is it number of sales
Is it based on the JA regional Manager opinion.

Until JA release the criteria we will never know
But even if they do it is simply Caesar judging Caesar just like media awards, best pie, best awarded wine Every child wins a prize. Don't mean much to me.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee information - Australia

The sales guy (Jason) was quite pleasant and helpful at Nunawading CJ. But they wouldnt budge on the price one bit, this is after I told them that I was willing to put a deposit in . They were by far the most expensive to buy from and they neither had capped price or fixed price servicing .

If they were a little willing to drop the price or add the extras that I wanted within the price, I would have bought JGC from them.. well their loss another dealers gain

Mine is the same sometimes, off throttle at around the 60 to 70 mark, I think it is 'bleed off' from the turbo, if so it's nothing to worry about.

This is what I found on Perisher website:

Snow Chains. The law requires you to carry properly fitting snow chains for your tyres whenever you enter the KNP (chains are not required for travel to Skitube and 4WD vehicles are exempt).
